I want to use canon lustre A4 paper in my canon pixma 8250 printer but there is no profile in the drop down box for media type. I notice in the getting started video that one is available using the canon A3 printer. Should I use the semi gloss profile? One other query if I may - having set up the qimage programme in the printer profile it says "let printer/driver manage colour" and there is a green tick in the driver set up. However in the video it shows the actual paper type to be used. Have I done something wrong in the set up. Many thanks for any help.

OK select the semi gloss paper, and the size A4, I guess.

All set to print perfectly on SEMI GLOSS.

But you are asking about Luster.
The best answer I can give you is  to set up like it was Semi gloss and try a Luster paper print. .. or grab a pack of Semi gloss ... hard to tell SEMI vs LUSTER in Canon Paper.
Based on my experiments here, you will be very pleased.

Just try it and please let us know for others what you show on luster,.

You still have to manually select the proper profile for that paper which I see is matte paper.
So looking at my screen snap, you can see Matte paper like yours, the profile for that paper from Canon in the profile box.

Rule of thumb: If you are using a profile, the Matching Tab is set to NONE

Next item. Try saving the printer set up so you don't have to do all this stuff over and over.

Here's HOW!
With that settings box all set correctly including thepaper size, paper type, correct profile, driver setting to NONE, Quality tto the max, and you want to save all of that,
Click the SAVE envelope icon,just to the right of the yellow envelope either the top left of the main screen, or the right side of the Printer and settings tab screen.
Click the "P"  button to indicate you are saving a printer setup.
Type in a name.... Ex. Canon matte A4     another example, Canon Semi gloss A4 for the semi gloss setup.  etc etc.     
I have extras with Matte 8.5 x 11 and another matte 13 x 19 size.

When you want to use that paper again, simply click on teh recall icon which is the YELLOW envelope next to the ssave button.
Click the "P" button and select the paper you want to load.
Everything will load. All the  driver settings with the addition of the size and the profile and more if there was more like a border.

**  If you right click opn the P button you can set it as a default so when you click recall or save, you will be on the Printer setting page.+

OK Roy,
Close but no cigar.
You need to select the profile from the folder of profiles that Canon supplied.
One you do that, and also reset the Quality setting to max (slider to the right, and check that Matching is NONE, Qimage will remember.
So when you switch to Matte, the matte profile magically appears. Switch back to Glossy II  and the correct profile changes with it.

Add to the video the two screen snaps from earlier; On showing the list of profile names (Canon has a naming protocol that is the definition of a Rat's Nest so don't feel bad)  You can google this and see how many articles there are to explain this.

You look at the chart, find your paper; Photo Paper Plus Glossy II.
You see it in the chart, 4th from the bottom. It is directing you to GL2 profile.
Now as per the video on how to find GL2, follow that until you see....screen snap 160 below.
I have asked Terry to pop in too to add some polish as I might miss something and he is in your time zone you might get faster replies.
Feel free to ask further if I still was not clear. I am like that too. All of a sudden, a lightbulb pops on, and I got it!!!!

You  are entirely welcome.  Glad we could help once in a while.
Different folks respond to different presentations. Sometimes we have to find the comfort zone.
For example, Maybe I am so old that my brain doesn't respond well to reading instructions from a screen because it never learned that way.
If I print the instructions, I am golden. If I have to work and learn from a screen set of instructions, I am flipping back and forth because my brain didn't actually absorb and remember what to do.
