Title: Epson 1400 Printer
Post by: Terry-M on March 29, 2011, 04:15:15 PM
Anyone here using an Epson 1400 printer for photos and can comment on its performance?
I've just had a call from a friend who's considering buying one. I don't think his budget is huge!

Terry,

I have an Epson 1400, and I think it makes a great photo printer.  I've routinely printed a variety of sizes all the way up to 13x19 and the prints have been great.
Eventually I'll move up to a pigmented ink printer, but I think this is a great place to start.

Thanks for the feed back.   :)
The review here gave it the thumbs-up too http://www.photo-i.co.uk/Reviews/interactive/Epson%201400/Page_1.html

I have both the 1400 and the R1900.

The 1400 is running on refillable damper carts and inks from Inkjetfly. I produced beautiful prints but have no idea about longevity of the images. It's all in the paper / ink and enviromental conditions. I keep all my prints in boxes and those that are on display are behind glass.

Yes, go for the 1400, they can be had cheap at just about any Staples store. Then go with a good third party ink system so he can afoord to mess around wothout $$$ worries.
