Any way to print full 17x25 inch borderless in the Epson 3880 without the need for a $$$ RIP program?

I was surprised to find out from Epson that they use "EFI Express" in their 3880 Designer Series that will do it - supposedly - off their online chat.  Some RIPS require a security dongle and cost $900.  Shocked   No room for a larger printer nor do I want to lug one around either.  I'm stacking printers on top of each other as it is.

Has to be a easier and cheaper way on the 3880 Standard model.

Tia.

Best I can do is 17 x 22 borderless.

No roll paper mode on that baby!

Follow up:

EFI Sales finally got a hold of me and said, "No their RIP software and drivers won't do it."  Seems odd since Epson sales said it would as it is used on their Epson 3880 Designer series.  Maybe that won't do borderless either and the Epson guy was asleep or fed the wrong info?

Anyone know of other RIP's that might work for the 3880 to do borderless 17x25 inch prints?

As it is, the paper needs to be fed straight else it will skew to the side a bit and shows up in the white border on the length.  If the roller picks it up wrong, it can go from a 5mm border to 1mm at the end and the white border exaggerates the skewing.  A borderless print might cover up that flaw - if I could get a driver or RIP to do so.

Hi Mack,
An observation re.:

It seems from here the fundamental problem is related to the paper feed on the printer; does it need maintenance or is that a "feature"?

Terry, the border wavering seems to be a feed thing.  Sometimes it is perfect, other times it skews.  May have something to do with paper weight too and how the rollers pick it up.  I suspect some of my Ilford Silk Gold stuff isn't cut square too.  Surface protective sheet absence sure leaves a lot of junk on the top sheet in their box too, but I digress (Looks like clay bits stuck to the surface that I can pick off with my fingernails, but it leaves a surface mark.  Bad Ilford!).

I did place a clothespin on the left side of the pull-up rear feed door as well as using the left black tab on the pull-ups to try and keep it straight.  Sometimes I get lucky.  Second sheet maybe not.  Wish I could do borderless with it and ignore the skewing white border that exaggerates the issue on longer papers.

Still looking for a RIP that will do borderless 17x25 inch prints in it, but seems sales isn't so reliable as to what the tech from the RIP software says.  Lots of money to pay for "Opps!  Doesn't work after all."
