My 2nd Epson R1800 has clogged it's heads for the last time. So, it's time for a new printer. In my search for another 13" printer, I've come to the conclusion that the Canon PIXMA Pro9500 II is the one for me. (I've ruled out Epson). I like the specs and was hoping that my fellow Qimage users would have some words of wisdom that can guide me in the purchase decision.

What I like about the specifications is that it states the printer prints great b&w prints (something the Epson R1800 can't do). I also like the prospect of the straight through paper path for thicker paper.

I'm an advanced amateur, selling only a few prints per year, so I don't want to go larger, and certainly not smaller than 13".

Good luck with the 1900. I've heard great things about it's capability to print superb b&w images. I got many, many good images from my 1800. But I am disappointed by it's premature aging, poor head cleaning process and options, and more. Hopefully Epson has cleared up these things in the new model.

Can't speak about the Mark II but if it is anything like the original PIXMA Pro 9500 you wont be disappointed. About three years ago I too ruled out the Epson and haven't regreted it. The Pro 9500 has produced hundreds of prints (including excellent black and whites) and never missed a beat, no clogging. I appreciate the quality of output, especially with QImage.
