Title: HP Z3100 "Poster Printing"
Post by: mdschulze on June 08, 2009, 04:39:11 PM
Has anybody learned how to "trick" the HP Print Driver so that long prints can be run utilizing QImage Poster Feature?

I cannot figure out how to get the "pages" to butt up against each other.  The closest I can get them is 3/8 of an inch.

I'm probably overlooking some obvious checkbox somewhere.

Thanks in advance.

The only way a printer will print consecutive "pages" butting together on roll paper is if the driver has a "banner" selection (or equivalent).  I'm not familiar with the Z3100 driver but hopefully it has such an option.  If not, it won't be possible because the driver will always insert some amount of space between pages.

It  doesn't know a "Banner" mode so the Poster/Tiles method will not work, 1 cm white "seams" will appear between the tiles.

The extra HPGL 2 driver extension will allow longer than 275 cm prints on a Z3100. Some Z3100's cross that 275 cm on their own, some don't it seems. The Z3200-PS that I also have shows no problems with print 5 meters long and must go even longer.
