So the printer properties doesn't allow me to create papers that are wider than they are longer.
So I purchased Qimage to help me print with some of HP's limitations.

I have a 44" printer that I often use to print page size or smaller images, and also some large ones on occasion.

I use 44" Roll paper most of the time.

I want to be able to load this, but for some reason the HP ignores the fact that it is a roll paper and forces me to answer the width AND length of the paper. Which I think is a software driver bug!
So since I do that, QImage sees it as 44x44" and so I print a 5x7 image oin this space, and the printer goes through the ENTIRE 44x44 space...Menaing the head and paper are still in action with no ink being output.

Why wouldn't QImage see the space that was actively printing/with ink and process that instead of the entire 44 inches of length?  I have to go in Cacel the job. reposition the paper to print the next job when it comes up.

Whats a better way I can use Qimage to manage my paper space?

Hi Phil,
I don't have your printer, but I did download the driver.
It appears that the smallest paper size it allows from a list, is Letter size (8.5 x 11)   (Still set on feed being Roll Paper)
You can put your 5 x 7 into that size and trim later.
See attached screen snaps.

Also invoke Qimage's special paper saving feature.  Right click on the image in the preview screen and select.
This will cut the paper right after the print is finished

Hope this helps,
Fred

Thanks Fred, I'll give that "trim white" a shot and see how it works!

I tried it...There was no way for me to confirm or know if that was "selected". But it continued to "print" the full 44 inches.

What I did is select all 3 5x7 images (they were dupes of the 1 image), and then I right clicked and selected the trim white option you showed me. It prompted if I want to do this, I said yes. But it didn't work.
