Not a dumb question, it's something that puzzles many people that print photos.
A printable area that is smaller than the page size is normal for most printers. It's the way they are made because printing right to the edges can lead to a reduction in quality.
However, most printer drivers do have a "borderless" setting which expands the printable area to something a little larger than the paper size. The "overspary" is done so that full coverage is ensured and allows for small paper feed errors.
I'm not familiar with the IPF6100 driver so cannot tell you exactly where the borderless setting is found.

I mentiond that a borderless setting "oversprays" the paper; this means that some of the image is lost at the edges of the print. Qimage Ultimate has an option to turn off the expansion in Printing and Page Formatting preferences. I think this is covered in the video.
