Hi, Thought I had fixed my Epson R1900 but now getting Purple skies instead of Blue so looking at the CANON PIXMA iX6850 as a replacment, YES!! I would love to say getting the Pro-100s that was spoken about in a previous thread on PINK prints from the same Epson R1900 but alas I just cannot justify that amount of money on something I only do for my own satisfaction. The thing holding me back on the Canon printer/s is they don't seem to be able to do panorama printing as with the Epson and the extra roll paper holder fitment, am I wrong here? is there a way round it with Canon printer/s?
Many Thanks
Russ
Hi Russ,
How large would your pano be?
I have had Epson after Epson, with an HP fancy one to start with many years ago.
I loved my Epsons, and still do, but when I got caught up in the Archiving nonsense, and believed that pigment ink was going to keep my hobby prints for the Martians to see in 500 years, I succumbed to the hype.
My R 1800 and my R 2000 had pigment ink, and I had got so used to pigment prints that I forgot the beauty of prints made with dye ink.
I bought the Canon Pro 100 as it had a huge sale here, and HOLY SMOKE, the prints took my breath away.
My wife said, where did you get that picture>? It's your shot from the Ringling Rose garden.
So all I am saying is that it is 90% improved with Dye ink, and 10% improved over my R2000 because of improved technology.
My thought would be, buy what you feel like spending, but see that it has dye ink.
Where do you live, Russ?
I see it is still on sale in the US (After rebate) for 129 bucks
