Hi, I have the R1900 and a Canon ix6850. Paper used from the same maker along with ICC profiles provided for each printer. I printed both these images at the same time with there correct profiles I also printed from the R1900 on Epson gloss paper using the profile from Mike (    
Epson R1900 Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy ICC Profile for Win7 ) and had a simular result as shown, very dark compared to the Canon image.
I used Canon ink and 3rd party ink in the Epson from a good supplier in the UK.
I no the image a little blurred here but it was taken hand held indoors only to show (I Hope) the light/dark diferance.
Any idea/s what could this quite large differance please?

and
If a print is made with a different ink from that used to make the profile, then it's likely the print will not be right.
The paper maker (and  assume Mike) will have used the printer's genuine inks to make the profile.
It's also likely that Epson with pigment ink and Canon with (possibly) dye ink will look a little different anyway.
How did the prints look when compared to your monitor and is that calibrated?

Some more questions/comments for you to answer:
How are the drivers set?   Did you do the two prints on one sheet, or run the paper through twice ... or ...?

Also note Epson gloss paper is not the same as Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy, they would have different profiles. The paper type choice in the drive should be that specified by the profile.

Hi, the image from the Canon looked a little brighter on screen but I expected that although the monitor (NEC) is calibrated with Xrite i1 pro.
The Epson looks really dark on the paper (both the PPD paper and Epsons own Gloss)
The ICC profiles are according to the supplier (Photo Paper Direct UK based) are Ilford as there claim is that there papers are coated and I quote 'We use Ilford coatings on our papers'.
The ink is from Marrut.
I was looking at buying a set of original Epson inks just to see what output I get from them.

The drivers are set on the R1900 as per the video's I have watched (many times :P)
The paper was two fresh sheets in each printer although it looks joined on the image I just pinned them to a board to take the photo to post here.
The paper is Premium Glossy Photo Paper and to be honest I didn't realise there would be that bigger difference with that profile so back to the drawing board on that one.

I would take that with a pinch of salt  ::). I couldn't find any reference that on their web site. Also, I don't see the Canon ix6850 listed on the Ilford site.
I use Ilford papers, particularly smooth gloss and smooth pearl and find their latest profiles compare reasonably well with custom profiles I have - on an Epson R2000 and use Epson inks.
