Title: Unclog schedule question (p800)
Post by: carltj on September 19, 2018, 12:24:06 PM
Was reluctant to use scheduled unclog on my 3800, b/c I had read that leaving the head unparked risked drying the ink ports.
I have just had to junk my 3800, b/c of terminally blocked magenta ink jets.  So, revisiting the issue of every 3 day unclog.
On balance worth the risk?  Is there a risk of not parking head?

The unclog scheduler is just going to print a purge sheet on your schedule: the printer treats the purge sheet as a "normal" print so the printer is going to print normally and (as with any other print) the head will return to parked position when the print is done.

So the head is still going to stay in parked position between unclog/purge cycles.  The difference is, if you purge on a 3 day schedule, the ink sitting on the surface of the head will only be 3 days old at most and that prevents the drying out problem.
