I first posted this in the Studio forum, but realized this is probably a better place.
Not sure how to describe this, so I am attaching a scan of a printed image. As you can see, it is taking a block of the picture and copying it to the corner. Also, if you look closely, you can see lines in the blue sky where the picture is divided into squares.
This is only happening with Qimage, I have printed this and other pictures with Picasa, PSP 10, and ViewNX2, and this never happens. It also just started this week. Qimage printed fine a couple of weeks ago.
I am using Windows 7 and a HP D7260 printer. Qimage is v2010.209.

Hi Sam, I would separate the condition into two possibilities, the image was processed first using other software and the lines are embedded, or the printer has a setting turned on (like rule of thirds cropping grid). Qimage is different in one particular feature. It remembers the driver settings, whereas, programs like Photo Shop, and Paint Shop Pro do not. Therefore, any odd or incorrect driver setting will be repeated. My first suggestion would be to open Qimage click on HELP, and then click on RESET PRINTER SETTINGS. Remember to go back into the printer driver and reselect the paper type, the quality, and the color management that you use. If it is possible, would you send that image to me via email? wathree.ssz@verizon.netI could make sure there were no anomalies in the image. Now let's tackle the block. I think, if I read you right, that the dark block is an addition to the actual image? I have seen a block missing from a print, but chopped out and replaced to a different spot, is new for me. If I look very closely, I can see that it is a copied hunk of image which actually shows more area than the big one does, of that corner. So you might have scanned it with a crop, or there's more image that didn't print?. Point! Something cropped that side. Again, the finger of guilt points to the driver. Reset the printer driver, seems to be the first thing to try. Fred

Hi Sam, I would separate the condition into two possibilities, the image was processed first using other software and the lines are embedded, or the printer has a setting turned on (like rule of thirds cropping grid). The image is unprocessed and the printer has no seting for rules of third that I see. Qimage is different in one particular feature. It remembers the driver settings, whereas, programs like Photo Shop, and Paint Shop Pro do not. Therefore, any odd or incorrect driver setting will be repeated. So you might have scanned it with a crop, or there's more image that didn't print. I have Qimage set to crop to 6x4 and the image is larger than that. When you see the full image, you will see that it is a block chopped out and placed to a different spot. Point! Something cropped that side. Again, the finger of guilt points to the driver. Reset the printer driver, seems to be the first thing to try. Fred I will send you the original image. Also, I have been using Qimage for at least five years and I am and have never had any problems up to this. I have been using this printer with Qimage for over two years, and I said, this problem just started last week. Sam

Also, this is not the only photo this happens with, and does not happen every time. I can print this or any other photo, and it may only happen once out of 3-4 prints.

Sam That's why I mentioned that Qimage is the only program that remembers the driver settings. I hope you tried RESET PRINTER from the Qimage HELP. The other thing to check is EDIT Preferences, Printing Options, and make sure the Spool setting is set to RAW. If you can get into the Printer property box and you can find ENABLE ADVANCED FEATURES, UNCHECK that. I have an old HP here and I created a snap for you to see. Fred

I will check further into the settings.
In the meantime, I have found that this only happens with pictures from this camera. It is the new Nikon S8100. I can print photos from my D40 and there is no problem. I also have a Nikon S4000. I went outside and took a photo with it, and printed four times with no problem.
It appears that the S8100 is embedding some info that Qimage does not like.
I also remembered that last week I was working on a photo from the S8100with Nikon ViewNX2 and when I tried to save the photo, it locked up the program and had to use task manager to close it.

I just tried to print the image and I got a quick flash of an error message, but then it printed. The error said something about out of bounds and referenced some dll. The print is fine. I did 8 x 10. What size are you printing? I cannot get that error again.
I will send it to Mike, but it's Sunday, and it will probably tomorrow before he sees it.

4x6 I am going to take the camera back and see if I can exchange it for another one. Like I said, it does it with more than just this photo, so to me, the camera has to be doing something to the pictures when it saves them. Sam Sam

Sam Before you do that, one question. Do you have Negative Margins in use in Qimage? If so, kill that! Fred

No negative margins.
I took the camera back and exchanged for another.
Went to the back yard with the S8100 and my D40. Took a picture of the same thing with both cameras, downloaded both pictures with Nikon Transfer, loaded both pictures into Qimage, printed both to HP D7260 printer with same settings.
The S8100 printed with a block copied to the corner and the lines visible in the blue sky. The D40 picture printed perfect.
All I can deduce from this, is that the S8100 somehow is creating a problem when it saves a picture. I also had occasion where ViewNX2 would not save S8100 images properly after they were altered.
Bottom line...took the second camera back too. Most people don't print pictures from point and shoots anymore, or when they do, they don't use Qimage, so this may go unnoticed.

I would have loved to see the images downloaded from the camera card to the computer using Qimage's system, or any other except Nikon. Their software may have a glitch for that camera. Either way, you have fixed the problem. Fred
