Nobody seems to know the status of Wolf Faust, one of the IT8 target suppliers. He had the best prices, and the site is still up, but response has been zero. Last anybody heard from him was mid-2024. That leaves us with few choices, but I recently found- https://www.greywhitebalancecolourcard.co.uk/it8.html and ordered a new target. We'll see how it does, but I have high hopes! It will also be interesting to see how my 20-year-old original compares, as I think it's faded a bit.

Hi, So, I got a target from the UK company. There are a variety of data files for it, but I get a floating-point error from Prism that I've never seen before. They give a lot less data than the Wolf Faust targets. Here's a short clip from the top of what seems to be the best file. The formatting is messed up in my cut/paste but the columns are all there. Any chance I'll be able to use this?

That looks like the Wolf Faust data file. If you can put the data files they supply on Google Drive, I can look at them and see what they are. Profile Prism requires a standard IT8 reference (txt) file.

Hi, The easiest thing is to just grab the file here- https://www.greywhitebalancecolourcard.co.uk/it8.html#dataThat way you'll have the various versions, .txt, .it8 and something else. BTW, I'm perfectly willing to tweak the file if there's some minor formatting or other thing it needs. Thanks, Conrad (apparently one of the last who still likes to mess with profiles using Prism!)

What is the number on your target? Is it the latest R202502?

OK, I just pushed a 9.0 beta update to the update site that can read the new targets from the UK website (the one you want to use is the R------.txt in the txt folder in their zip file, where ------ matches the number on your target): https://www.ddisoftware.com/prism/pp-files/If you need the password, direct message me here or send me an email. The password is the same as it has been for a while if you've used it in the past few years. Updated: - Windows 11 support - LCMS 2.17 color management engine update - Supports new target data file formats Regards, Mike

Above and beyond the call of duty and I thank you! I just started doing some tests and would suggest people stay with the previous version for a bit, unless it's understood we're working with a beta version. My results are pretty bad color-wise and I need to pin down that it's the program or the target. My suspicion is the new target, but it will take me a bit to prove it.
Best, Conrad

I think the Prism software is doing its job well and the results will only be as good as the target and its calibration file. The status of Faust is now iffy at best, but they seemed to have produced good results in the past. The previously mentioned UK supplier is very responsive, but I question the accuracy of their data files. It would seem the best answer is a scan of the specific target you're using and that would appear to be available here- https://www.chromix.com/colorgear/product.cxsa?toolid=434IT-8 targets aren't that easy to get. The Silverfast/Lasersoft target from B&H appears to be a new style target and I suspect that's not compatible with Prism unless Mike says otherwise. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1667496-REG/lasersoft_imaging_la1208_silverfast_3_93_x_5_90.htmlMore in the distant future if I can get both my old and new targets rescanned. At this point I think it would be cheaper if I just bought the extra large 152-count box of Crayolas and made my own. :-)
