Title: Profiling Canon Lide 80 gives a very dark image Post by: Paul-H on June 24, 2011, 10:39:14 PM Hello
I am looking for some help using PP to Profile my Canon Lide 80 Scanner with Vuescan I followed the instructions Within the PP Help file but the resulting image is very dark. I have followed all the instruction regarding setting up Vuescan to produce 48Bit Raw Files I have followed the instuctions regarding setting up PP The scanned image in PP gives some errors in the message box regarding poor exposure and poor white balance. If I then go ahead and create the profile and try to use it The Images produced by Vuescan are very dark as they are still RAW Files and converting to profile within Photoshop makes little difference Thank you in advance for your help in this matter and I look forward to using Profile Prism! Can anyone see what I am doing wrong. Thanks Paul Title: Re: Profiling Canon Lide 80 gives a very dark image Post by: rayw on June 24, 2011, 11:08:44 PM It is easy to not align the corners of the image correctly for the target - check you have selected the correct corners.
Best wishes, Ray Title: Re: Profiling Canon Lide 80 gives a very dark image Post by: Paul-H on June 25, 2011, 06:20:19 AM Hi
Yes I have got the corners set right One thing that is puzzling me is the instructions say the settings to make the initial scanned image are the same ones that are to be used with all subsequent scans, the setting produce a RAW file which is what is producing the very dark scan. I know its correct to use a RAW file when profiling a printer but it seems wrong to use a RAW file when profiling a scanner, would it not be better to just use a standard TIFF file with all colour management turned off. To me it looks like something is wrong The instructions say setup to produce RAW File, yet when the file is opened in PP and are asked is this a RAW file I am supposed to say no if profiling a scanner. Is there something wrong in the wording in the instructions. Thanks Paul |
