I am getting ready to use the long awaited version 7 of PP, and have my printed out test pattern and IT8 target ready to scan (on my canon 8800F). I use Vuescan pro and wanted to know what some of the COLOR tab settings should be set at prior to doing the scan. The PP Help file covers most of the settings, but wanted to know where some of the other settings should be (what I set it at):
Color Balance (white balance), Scanner Color Space (ICC profile),Scanner ICC profile (I set it to read the scanner.icc file as I calibrated the scanner using the IT8 target), Printer color space (Adobe RGB), Output Color Space (Adobe RGB), Monitor Color Space (Icc Profile- directed to my monitor profile generated with a pantone huey). Would like to hear your opinions,

Your comments are very helpful.  Yes, your normal included screen shot was not clear and readable for me --AND--  No, I did not know of the "click on to enlarge".   After clicking on it, it is perfectly legible and easy to read.
Perhaps I have not read enough details regarding the features of this Forum and I need to do that.  I have read some of the "found details" but obviously have not found the details that would make this Forum more enjoyable and useful for me.
I am rather "NEW" to this Forum even though I have been a Licensed user of image for over 7 years.

Fwiw, Terry's screenshot opened perfectly for me (when I clicked it and it auto-enlarged here) and was perfectly readable as well.

Just wish I had read his RAW stuff before I had spent two days in the TIFF part with making 150 image scans in VueScan using the "Right-Click on a gray image" to get an initial "White Balance" setting and then fiddling with all the other settings (White point.  Balck point. 3 Colors. Etc.) to get even close to a null point (i.e. with fewer "X"s).

I must say, I did get a better white balance on the "Right-Click on a Gray" and let VueScan get some sort of initial reading to go to when I was messing with the TIFF side.  Just it took too much time and effort with all the other program settings to get a workable (a low "X" number count).  The RAW setting got me to a better scan and fewer X's on the printed target (not the IT8 one) though than the TIFF side did.

Thanks Terry.  Your RAW method saved me a pile of time and work scanning in TIFF.

Your first image looks like it's compressed too much as a jpeg, the second is too small.
