Having had to produce a set of screen shots so that Fred could debug my modus operandi I felt it might help others starting off with Profile Prism.

Firstly the settings in Q to produce the chart that will be scanned on the paper/ink combination you are profiling. This can be automated by using Recall and Jobs and it is called 'printer target set up job'



Here is the start of the Epson Printer settings.



Here is the critical bit in Epson Advanced. No colour adjustment is essential.



Vuescan input. I am using a Canon scanner.

I trust this covers all the steps and that the mistakes I'd made (spotted by Fred) have been corrected.

As Mike constantly points out it is vital that the setting in the printer is the same as the one you will use in your day to day printing. In the case of the Epson it is 'No Colour Adjustment'.

From your images, the printer target is way off being square. That will affect PP reading the patches; you must check that in PP and take care to get the target square on the scanner bed.

It is all in the program Help, that's what I used when I first had PP, and I still refer to it.

I get the problem too 
I have put a little tap on one edge of the black card I use as the overlay and use this to  to lower that edge after placing the opposite edge on the edge of the scanner glass lip. It needs to be lowered slowly to avoid a draft.

Brief update.

Firstly I discovered that the Canon scanner has a small vertical frame at the top and hinge side. Pushing the two scans up to the edge is the way to get them absolutely straight.

Secondly, the prime reason for wanting to do my own scans was so I could go onto third party ink and avoid the horrendous cost of Epson branded cartridges.

Yesterday I took delivery of some Cone ink and their refillable cartridges.

This morning I installed a full set in my 2400. I created a profile using Profile Prism and it works perfectly without a single edit.

As both Fred and Terry know I have been experimenting with PP and comparing the results with profiles supplied by both Epson and Ilford. The fact that PP never matched them now suggests that it was they (Epson and Ilford) that were a bit wrong - and not PP.
