Can anyone tell me how to print a 7x5" (say) with a white border and within that border put the filename of the photo. If you can figure out how to make a black keyline around the photo first that would be great. Then I need to save this as a template so I can apply it to other photos in the future.

Click into the Full Page Editor and Right click on the big image. Select Text annotation to type in what you want.
Another way, if you just want file information, is to tick the INFO box on the main screen,

Thanks. I only want filename, but whenever I do that it comes outside the border area.

To make a black border, use BORDERS and select a thin line, like ,005

I don't have more time right now. Perhaps someone can walk you through putting text in the border.
I will be back in 3 hours in case.

1   In the Print Properties window, set Border1 to white and say .5" (click on the number'1' to set the colour) and set border 2 to black and say .1". You can choose 'B' - border included in the print size or 'B+', border added to the print size.



2   In the full Page Editor, click on the "A" just above 'HQ Preview, then inside the border where you want the text. The Floating text menu will appear. Click on 'Filename no ext., then on the 'Centre' icon on the top row, then 'Link To' and choose 'All Prints' (or whichever).

Looking good, thanks Brian. Can you tell me how I save this and apply to a batch of images. I wish the window was bigger or a zoom function to be able to see exactly where the text is going.

What was the strange behaviour? You are using Ultimate right? I'm not - as yet. Wonder if it's easier..

Is this what you want?

Edit page >  Set boarders  >  Place location in reqd boarder, > create text > adjust position as necessary by dragging the text location dot.

Instead of using an actual image, use the "template" that is at the end of every set of thumbnails. Place that on the page at the size you require, add borders ans any text you require.
Now save this as a "Layout" from the main screen.
To use this template, you must recall it from the print properties sizes and use Custom and put a dot in "Layout", browse to your named template/layout and select to use. You can place multiple images in the queuue and each will have the template applied.
See Templates in the list of functions and Learn by Example 7b in the Help.

Use the 'Template' thumbnail instead of a photo and save as a 'Layout' using the Save icon under File and Edit. Open the saved layout using 'Custom' in the Print Property window, then 'Layout - pre-defined page set'. It's important you use this method to open the page layout for printing, opening it from the 'Recall' window is only for editing the layout.

I've opened a new thread for the Properties box, it's probably just me  Grin

The other way is to select all the images in the queue and apply the border. Then in the Page Editor, apply the floating text and set "link to all prints in the queue". Done.
So many ways to do the same job in Qimage  Cool
