You seem to have premium Glossy selected in teh driver as a paper choice, but the profile selected in properties  looks like it says Luster.
Hard for my old eyes.
Maybe Terry can read it better.

That is correct. My profiling guru has chosen the glossy setting (as opposed to the lustre one) that I printed a test chart with as the one exhibiting the best result - even though I am using Lustre paper.
Anyway it still doesn't explain why as I am using the same profile in each of Studio and Ultimate that I am getting different results. Especially as other profiles I had done previously are fine on Studio !?!!?

John,
I am afraid I will have to bow out.
Apparently your profiling GURU has hsi own method of creating profiles, different from the way I was taught.
I was taught to print a special target that matches the software that the spectro photometer requires. Then the profile is created for each paper by running the spectro over the target which is printed on Epson ultra Premium Glossy, Epson Ultra Premium Luster, Epson Ultra presentation Matte, etc. I have some HP Advanced glossy profiled for me.
Actually, I made my own...using Profile Prism.
Each paper type /brand calls for an individual target to be printed and given to the one making the profile. (The targets have to dry fo 24 hours to secure the final color.)

** You printed a test chart looking for the best results??? and Luster won?Huh?
Sorry, I cannot get with that method.

Perhaps Terry can be of more assistance.

Best, good holiday,
Fred

Thanks, but I completely understand where he is coming from. He says the printer paper settings are quite arbitrary and have nothing to do with the actual paper, other than the fact that they lay down a bit more or less ink. He tells me they are a marketing ploy. It is the profile that is important.
None of this explains to me one jot why the same profile and papers work with Ultimate and not with Studio. It's a real pity because I hate the UI of Ultimate.

That one can be explained by the age. The color management engine is 6n years old. The DC raw converter is also Old lcms.dll, and the profile was made using the newer color engine in Ultimate.
Look in your files under Qimage and the other is QU and compare.
Studio has color management files from 2007 2010, where QU's color engine has lcms2.dll 2016, DCraw 2016 etc.
QU uses Fusion, Studio Hybrid.

Studio will make a good print but will have subdued colors and blockier shadows, but still a decent print.

I agree with Fred. I have had a number of profiles made by a professional colour management company, this included Ilford papers for an Epson printer. Ilford state quite clearly what the driver settings should be for the paper type as do other reputable paper manufacturers. The generic profiles provided by Ilford and Epson also make it clear what the paper selection should be in the driver.
