I didn't know about Adobe's new policy until I saw this posted on Mike's web site.
I couldn't believe it!
You get to rent your Photo Shop or Lightroom by the month, and if you don't make your payment it stops working?

I am urging all of you that are using Adobe to process, and Qimage to Print, at least try the Qimage Ultimate Demo; actually BUY Qimage Ultimate!
One and a half months rent for Adobe buys your Qimage Ultimate which will not shut off on you.

I hope your old Adobe products keep working and you can still use them for special needs, but you will have a terrific processor with DFS and TTS...  Updates free for a year, and less than 20 bucks for next year.

** Coincidentally, I know that Mike Chaney has run some Promotion sales for people who were buying Ultimate and promoting it in their shops and classes.

I also heard a rumor that should a Studio owner write to mchaney@ddisoftware.com  and ask for the discounted price (substantial discount, I might add) for the Promotion Qimage Ultimate, he/she might get a pleasant surprise!!

Some of the photography forums are experiencing an Tsunami of objections referring to Adobe's new policies.

Many are looking for information on alternatives to PS. Especially for reliable raw processors.

Questions have been asked about Qimage.

May be worth your while to mosey over to dpreview.com. Especially the OPEN TALK and RETOUCHING forums. You may be able to give some informed comments on questions being asked.

Thanks so much for the suggestion.  
All joking aside, I am absolutely at a loss to enter or post in any forum other than here.
I can do this one, because Mike helped me.  
I have some sort of a mental block when I enter a forum. I am totally lost. I am even unable to read a post and find the reply to it.

I joined the Wide Printer Forum, and could not figure out how to reply to someone I really could help with Qimage.
I gave up on that one.

I feel like a fool, telling everyone about this, but sadly, it is the truth.
I will tell Mike and maybe he has another idea.

Maybe you could just advise anyone interested in an alternative to visit this forum and ask all the questions he needs to know.

Maybe you could start a section here, in the qi forum, wrt migrating to qi from ps and lesser software. Then, those using qi who are present on other fora could direct the unwise to said section.

There is some rubbish being said about Qimage:

In addition to someone winging about losing his Q key there are some saying the Qimage editor is difficult to use or not very good. I think that is nonsense and suspect that many do not know how how to use standard tools such as levels and curves. Select Color is a bit tricky but that is all.
I was pleased to see that Mike has posted there to deal with misconceptions and say "DFS sharpening ...... leaves USM in the dust".

Then, how about a few of you that do get into Dpreview post a suggestion that anyone that wants real inside information on Qimage Ultimate, please sign into the Qimage / ddisoftware forum.

I have done a bit of Googling - results

I cannot find any reference to future of PS Elements.

It appears Adobe are still using an exchange rate of £1 = 1$

As I do not use PS it appears I can safely raise two fingers to Adobe and if Elements goes it's a case of Good By Adobe Hello Gimp.  I have only purchased two versions of Elements (4 and 7) both half price so I can see why they are going subscription based.

Jeff - I am right there with you.  I use elements about once or twice a year for situations where I really need several layers or need to merge images with unusual shapes.  I use QU for everything else.  I used to use elements editing between 5 and 10% of my photos - but as QU has added tone targeting, more and more raw features, etc.  I now use elements only when I have to do something "weird."  Never used PS itself - don't know why I would.  Mel W
