Title: How to use Camera profile.. Post by: inhaliburton on February 17, 2010, 06:11:48 PM I got the Nikon D-700 camera profile from Mike. Can someone point me to a link, or tell me where to put it, how to use, when to use or not use?
I mostly shoot NEF. Thanks, Paul. Title: Re: How to use Camera profile.. Post by: Terry-M on February 17, 2010, 06:42:05 PM For XP copy to the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ddisoftware\Qimage\Profiles for Vista, and I think W7 it's C:\Program Data\ddisoftware\Qimage\Profiles If the profile is correctly located, you will see its name in the Exif hotbar below the raw thumbnails as yopu mouse over the thumbs. Good to hear, thanks for letting me know.I assume you know about setting up in RAW preferences to allow Custom profiles. I omitted to mention that yesterday but if you are seeing the camera profile in the Exif hotbar, all is well. :D Terry. Title: Re: How to use Camera profile.. Post by: inhaliburton on February 19, 2010, 02:01:57 AM Hey Terry, you know your way around Qimage!
Actually, I hadn't noticed that menu. I'm getting back into printing after a hiatus, so have been re-reading the Qimage manual. I left everyting at "default," ticked the "enable custom profiles" box. If someone can help, I have another question regarding printer driver. My usual workflow is: I shoot Nikon NEF, open in Capture NX2, might do more editing in CS3, save as tiff, print with Qimage. Printer is Canon ipf5100. In the printer driver accessed from Start > Settings > Printer. In the Color menu, under Color Matcing, the choices are: Driver Matching Mode (Kyunos), ICC Matching Mode, Driver ICM Mode, Host ICM mode, and OFF. I chose ICC Matching Mode. Hope that's correct. From inside Qimage, I went back to the Driver to see if anything was different. I went back into the same Menu and found that the choice was OFF. I set it to ICC Matching Mode. Hope this is correct, and am not double profiling. Regards, Paul. Title: Re: How to use Camera profile.. I'm a veteran (but not as old as Fred) and as some have may noticed, an enthusiastic user of the program. ;DQuote I set it to ICC Matching Mode. Hope this is correct, and am not double profiling. Possibly not.If you are using a printer profile set in Qimage, it should be set to OFF. Are you using printer profile? See attached for a typical set of Qimage Job properties with full Colour Management There was a similar query on Canon driver settings a few days ago on this thread: http://ddisoftware.com/tech/printers/printing-problems-with-canon-pixma-pro-9000-mk-ii-in-qimage/msg4416/ There are some screen shots that Fred attached, see the second one down. Quote In the printer driver accessed from Start > Settings > Printer. It is best to access the printer driver from Qimage and then Q remembers the settings: 3rd icon in from the right at the top right of the screen. The other useful feature related to this is that you can save Printer set-ups. So for each paper type, size, etc. all settings are easily re-called. EDIT: if you are using a paper manufacturers profile or a custom profile from a professional supplier, they usually come with information on how to set the driver. Hope that is some help for you. See attached for a typical set of Qimage Job properties with full Colour Management Hi Terry, thanks once again for your valuable info. I switched from "print mode" to "Olympics Mode." Having re-read this thread and the link you provided has made things much clearer in my noggin. What you pointed out now makes sense. I went into the Canon driver via Qimage, selected OFF. From within Qimage, in the Print Job menu on the main Qimage page, I selected the Canon paper profile for the paper that I'm using. ++++++++++++++++ There was a similar query on Canon driver settings a few days ago on this thread: http://ddisoftware.com/tech/printers/printing-problems-with-canon-pixma-pro-9000-mk-ii-in-qimage/msg4416/ There are some screen shots that Fred attached, see the second one down.
