Title: JPEG 2000 support
Post by: DavidInCT on September 13, 2009, 06:36:58 PM
I did a search of this forum and had no results or JP2 or JPEG 2000.

Today, I tried to convert both a tif and a jpg to a JPEG 2000.  In both cases I got
an error message, "JP2 not supported".  Under "View" it does not appear as a
file type but the option still appears in the conversion window.

Has supprort now been dropped in v268?

If there is no longer support for  JPEG2000, the lack of it will cause me a real problem.
I have a client involved in the graphic arts buiness who wants images in the JPEG 2000
format because this is a format used by many of its musem clients.  Note: the Smithsonian
Museum and the Library of Congress use JPEG 2000 in archives and that is probably
why the musems do also.

David,
I have a slightly older version running in one of my machines and it *does* work.
I suspect it is just a gnat that has to be swatted.

Mike will have a look soon.

I see the option is there in the Convert and Filter Associate/New Image dialogues but attempted use gives an "unsupported" error message.
Terry.

Terry and Fred,

Thanks for your quick reply.   Ver. 268 had been working so well that I removed the earlier version...and one
of life's catch-22s got me.   I found a free browser that let me make the conversion...so all is well for now.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Better than my quick reply, download Qimage 269 and your JP2 is fixed.
That's a quick reply, better than mine.

This is fixed in 2009.269.  It was just a bad file (DLL) pointer.
