Title: Prefab print sizes
Post by: Seth on July 13, 2009, 09:02:15 PM
Mike-

Medium on my wish list: would you had some more print sizes to the SE Edition?  11x14, 12x18 and 16x20.  I am guessing most of us using this edition are pros and have the larger printers.  These are still pretty stock sizes in the industry.

Yeh, yeh, I know I'm lazy and would rather click and go <GGG>.

Thanks,

Seth,
That's already in there.
Way over to the right of the print properties bar is an icon. Click it!
It says open size tools.
If you open that, you can load the large size buttons_ premade..
At this point you have a large selection of the larger sizes.
Alternatively, you can right mouse click on an existing size that you rarely use, and select customize selected size and type in the size you want.
Best of all, again click on that size icon and select add new size. Now you can add as many sizes to the size list as you like, including odd sizes, SAVE and you are all set.
If I remember right, you can add as many as you like in the SE of Qimage.

Thanks, Fred-

I have a REAL aversion to just going around clicking things to see what happens.  That's why I didn't find those sizes.  (I learned my lesson in Photoshop 15 years ago--clicking on a group of actions added so many it was devastating!!)

HOWEVER, it didn't solve anything.  If you click the large ones, the small ones go away.

I asked about common, traditional photo print sizes to be added to this list.  16x20 and 20x24 are not in there.  The recent traditional size is of 12x18 is missing also.  So, these would have to be built by each person.

Workflow for me on high ticket prints is a la Clayton Jones, Paul Roark, et al: 4x5 then 5x7 then 8x10 then final 11x14 or 16x20, etc.  Saves paper/ink and is tweak as you go.

I bet you could add all the sizes you want before I could program it to put them in.  :)  You can have up to 100 sizes in the Studio Edition.  The reason I don't include sizes like 16x20 and 20x24 is that those sizes won't fit on most printers unless you are running wide format (wider than 13 inch).  The result is that I give everyone sizes that 90% of the people will click on and get a poster, potentially getting people in trouble.  Instead, why don't you just create the sizes you want.  It takes maybe 15 seconds to add a size.  Just click on the tool button to the right of the size drop down and select "Add a size".  Do that for however many you need.

Mike-

Gotcha.  I just thought most of the people buying SE would be pros, therefore using the larger printers--at least the 22-24".
