Today, I downloaded a number of Jpeg photos from my Nikon 8800 and my Canon SX10IS. I used an external card reader and copied and pasted the photos to a new file in My Documents. I then opened this file in Qimage Studio and a cascading warning appeared that I have never seen before. The text of the warning is as follows: "Cannot open file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ddisoftware\Qimage\Thumbs\q.bmp". The system cannot find the file specified." I probably did something to cause this and the suffix "q.bmp" has me stumped. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I took a screen shot of the page but I can't seem to get it down to 128 Kilobytes. Thanks Terry - M, I'll give it a try. Sounds like a bit of research here will show me the reasons and can correct the problem. I'm running XP and this is the first time its happened. I might add, I've recently switched over to Mozilla Firefox as my browser. Maybe that caused some conflict. Will post what I discover, probably, tomorrow. Thanks and cheers...Bruce Sr.

I would not have thought so, I and other Qimage users use FF and don't have the same problem.
See screen snap below, right click the folder, select properties and make sure there is no dot in Read Only and Hidden. If there is click to clear and OK.

You might check if you do have a q.bmp in the thumbs folder, if you do, remove it and see what happens. Otherwise, I would un-install, reinstall, and make sure Q is being installed in the default locations.

To attach an image, click the Additional Options link bottom left of the Post Reply text box.
If I have a screen shot that is too big, I use Qimage to downsize it (e-mail/web copies) and, if necessary, reduce the jpeg quality. It sometimes requires a couple of goes to get it right

I can't read the message on screen but I can see that the "Q" image is missing from the thumbs that have not built! The spaces between the built thumbs should show the grey "Q" as in the attachment with my first reply.
You need to as I suggested and check whether the q.bpm file is in the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ddisoftware\Qimage (XP) folder.
For Vista C:\Program data\All Users\ddisoftware\Qimage.
It look to me that file is missing for some reason.
The simplest thing might be to re-install Qimage. Try an over-the-top install first, if that does not work, un-install first and try again.

Some more information:
It is strongly recommended that you disable your anti-virus software during installation. That has probably deleted the q.bmp file previously

Thanks for the answer. Both the desktop shortcut and the start menu take me to the "C" drive Qimage program. I guess all I need to re-install is the user name and password I got from Mike in July, 2009 and my Studio Edition registered user name and the unlock code that came in the same e-mail. Thanks again. The uninstall was complete. The reinstall worked fine. Both were done with my anti-virus program off, as you suggested. Now, the current edition of Qimage SE is on the "C" drive and there is no reference to Q on the "E" drive. It appears that Q is working fine. I think that puts a wrap on my little problem. Cheers.
