Title: Challenge 23 "She Moved"
Post by: Fred A on January 04, 2014, 11:18:26 AM
She Moved.... or I moved... or shutter too slow!!

The point is Grandma went back to her own home after visiting for the holidays, and you wish this shot was sharper.
She was showing off for the camera, and the shot could be somewhat sharper to be printed.

Let's see if Qimage Ultimate can improve it enough to be printable... in other words, fix a blurry shot!
Time to look at the Before and the After, like they do on facial aging creams for women.

073.... a 1X look at her "before" face in the preview box in the Image Editor.
076 ... a cropped view in the editor screen to see the BEFORE!

Ok now since I have my sharpening tool called DFS in Ultimate (Deep Focus  Sharpening), (which will refuse to make halos and allow extra sharpening without halos),
I set a very high radius (16) and a low strength.  I ended up with 16 radius and 90 strength.
These are trial and error settings, not set in stone.
Depends on your image. Depends on how much noise in the image.
If you find that you are making noise particles to stand out, check one of the three noise reduction filters right there in the editor. See which one works best for your image.

Now look at 074.... with the DFS applied... You can easily see the improvement.
Now 075  ...... Grandma  "After".

Please look at the added post below which has a side by side look.
I did not use any noise reduction at all.

Have a ton of fun, and let's Save Grandma from the delete key!
Can you get your grandma fixed?
Fred
