Please Read A & B first
This selection is bit more straight forward, but it is still not mechanical on your part.
It requires some thought.
Basic Rule of sharpening. Never sharpen sky or water.
Keep that in mind when selecting your sharpening mode.
Sharpen Selected Tone! Select the tone/color that you wish to sharpen, add some radius and strength, and have a look.
For the image in this post, I used 2/200.
See snap 103, before sharpening.
See snap 102 with the back of the Heron selected for the tone. It is nicely sharpened.
Also, may I call your attention to the lower right corner area of 102. Notice the sharpened white water and the sharpened rocks. These items contain a small amount of very similar color to what we selected. They get some sharpening!
For this image, that's fine.
If withing YOUR image sharpening of those rocks was unacceptable, you would select a different mode; Target all except, or Target all RGB except.
You can even select as a secondary choice, Soften all non targeted...
Loads of fun
Snaps 105 and 104 are just showing that we did not sharpen the water.
Have fun.
