Title: Copyright/signature - remember last used signature and position
Post by: jrsforums on January 26, 2018, 03:01:34 PM
Would it be possible to have copyright/signature remember the last used signature/position?

Obviously, the automatic copyright/signature does this, but I do not always want to apply this, particularly on large, to be matted, prints.  Forgetting to turn off will cause wasted paper, ink, and time.

Turning on individually requires looking for signature and selecting position.  Memory of prior used would save this effort, yet one could still easily change either by selecting different signature or position.

Thanks.

Good morning,
Maybe this idea will help. It is what I do and it works for me.

I simply go into the Page editor and select Floating Text.
I can set font, point size, color of text, background color and depth of the block letters, name of the photo and you can even add Copyright too.
This is saved so when I open my Qimage, that setup is ready to be applied to my print if I wish.
You save it by using the Padlock feature as shown in the screen snap attached.
Just click to unlock, and click again to save what you want to open by selecting CURRENT.

My initial thoughts......

* copyright/signature allows unique text/image creation that floating text does not.
* I’m not really sure what “start up settings” lock does...which probably leads to following questions.
* Does each new print will require new floating text creation/position; are all prints given same floating text?
* Is floating text, one applied, locked to the image....until deleted?

The unique copyright can be used/inserted into the floating text box so you get the best of both.

Start up settings are what they say. How yoiu want your Qimage to open...

The floating text is not applied automatically. It is all set and ready to be applied to the images you wish to apply.
You can use what has been saved as default, or change it for any shot anytime.

No! Floating text is temporarily locked to the print, not the image.

I’ll try it later.

So, each image needs the floating text positioned individually?

Not necessarily. There are optional check boxes for >>>    Apply to images on page, and apply to all images in queue.
Play around with it.

I really meant each time I start.  That is, I cannot define a set position for the text to go to.

I will play with this to try it out, but, while it may work, it seems a bit “fiddly”to the copy/signature function with memory.

I see IPTC COPYRIGHT, but not the copyright/signature....that is xxx.tif with xxx-mask.tif

The way QU deals with print layout/feature settings that are often repeated by a user is with templates.
You could create a template for each size print and add a signature, or floating text, etc. It's up to you to decide whether this is a worthwhile exercise to create templates for your particular workflow
When the template has been made, save as a Layout and to use, select on the Print tab, Custom - LAYOUT predefined page set.
See first screen show below, note the "C" top left which shows there's a copyright/signature existing.
The second screen shot shows the page editor in HQ mode with an image added and the dice logo bottom right.

It's pretty clear when a signature is in place from the "C" symbol on the preview & page editor. If you use the feature regularly, include it in your pre-print quality control check list.
