Recently I've been getting access violation messages when doing something simple in Qimage Ultimate such as clicking the Recall icon to open a saved print job after having printed a different job, or clicking the printer setup icon. Is this a memory issue?

Qimage Ultimate v2016.130
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Epson 4000
Intel Core2 Duo @ 3 GHz
4 GB RAM

Now I'm getting these errors by clicking the Print icon and "OK", then exiting the program.
Also, some of the errors are freezing the program. Sometimes I can relaunch the program and use it; other times it's barely functional and I have to restart my system.

Hi Bill,
Assuming that rebooting the computer did not fix anything, I would try these next steps.
1) Click HELP and click Analyze.
Did the follow up message find anything?

2) Hold the shift key and click the same analyze selection in the Help  drop down.
What numbers did you get?

3) Click RESET Printer settings, and manually enter the paper, quality, speed, and color management settings.
Make a print... fixed?

4) Again in the Help menu, Click reset all program settings.
This action will give you all fresh new .ini files in Qimage which is the same as the first time you used QU.
(I would suggest making copies of the current ini files stored in C:\Programdata\ddisoftware\Qimage. There are 5 of them ending in .ini)

In case the complete cleansing didn't help.

5) You can download a fresh copy of QU 130, and install with Anti virus program temporarily disabled.

6) I will see that Mike sees your posts, and that error message you show might be a great clue.

Thanks for posting the error addresses: those help me locate the problem.  The first error address appears to be coming from the printer driver.  I believe some type of corruption has occurred that is causing the driver settings currently in use to be invalid.  First, try using Help, Reset Printer Settings in Qimage Ultimate and then when you go back into QU, set up your driver settings manually (using File, Printer Setup).  That is, don't load any saved jobs or setups as they could have corrupted driver settings.  See if that solves the problem.  If not, the corruption could be deeper and you may need to use Help, Reset ALL Program Settings to clear the problem.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. "Analyze" yields "Analysis complete. No potential conflicts in settings found!"

Shift-"Analyze" yields
Start: 2147 MB
Addl: 1005 MB
Now: 2146 MB

I only find 4 ini files in my C:\ProgramData\ddisoftware\Qimage folders: icm.ini, qimagepr.ini, qimage-u.ini, sizes.ini. Possibly missing a file here?

I Reset Printer Settings and a test print came out ok with no errors or crashes while clicking various icons. So far so good  Smiley

I then printed a Saved Job to see if it caused trouble, and it was fine. However, I'd like to know how to utilize my Saved Jobs if I do run into issues with saved jobs, i.e. how to avoid having to rebuild them all from scratch.

I'm able to print with fewer errors and crashes now, but still getting some occasionally, as attached. Some don't cause any havoc; others crash Qimage. Generated when clicking Open to retrieve a saved job, or clicking OK to print a saved job.

Hi Bill,

4) Again in the Help menu, Click reset all program settings.
This action will give you all fresh new .ini files in Qimage which is the same as the first time you used QU.

I have just got round to coming in on this one!

I have been having these access violation messages for some time.

Now more frequent and yesterday QU FP would not transfer images Memory card to Comp had to use Win Explorer.

I cannot find the actual .ini files, what is the full name of these ini files.

I intend to delete them as advised and install v.131 and see what happens.

Hi Jeff
No need to bother saving the ini files. I suggested that to Bill in case the problem was somewhere unrelated, and he wouldn't have to reset the screen and history etc etc.

Try Mike's suggestions first.

Just done a All Prog Setting reset.

I have got win 7 to show file extensions.

I can find only 3 .ini files viz

Sises.ini fccm.ini and addresses.ini  are these the files to delete and rebuild.  If there are others I cannot find them.

I have not yet dn ld v.130

now going to attempt to do some work with QI see what happens.

Done a reset all and installed latest ver.  Just had two crashes requiring three fingers.

One was when applying a vignette cutout.

will try to get a detailed violation report.

If you answer that the above is true, you manually selected all settings in the driver, and manually selected an image for the queue, my next suggestion would be to disable your anti virus and download and install again.
