1) You have manually reset printer driver for paper type, quality color, etc.You DID NOT use any preset printer or job setup, right?
If you answer that the above is true, you manually selected all settings in the driver, and manually selected an image for the queue, my next suggestion would be to disable your anti virus and download and install again.

Thanks fred, will have investigate further later, out all to day and a job tomorrow  preparing a show  for camera club for Friday night meeting.

Since above I have been doing quite a bit with QI, Christmas cards, and sundry prints up to A3 and have had no further problems.

That comment will ensure something goes belly up,  - sods law -
