Title: Adding logo graphic to margin or border of template
Post by: rjh1007 on December 11, 2018, 07:21:18 AM
I need to add my logo (not a signature) to the bottom right margin or border of my images when I print them.  How is this possible and assuming it is then how can I make it into a template?

Thanks for all your help.

Bob

I helped someone with this 3 years ago, see this thread. Have a look and come back if you have any questions.

It basically uses the Signature feature. Add it to your template  as if it was asignature. Do you know how to make templates?

Hi Bob,
This can be done quite easily, and saved as a .TPL Template
Depending on your need and prefernces, to make a template with your logo,
Select Your print size. ( 8 x 10)
Add a Template, last thumb.
Change to FREEHAND MODE
Assuming the logo is a jpg or a Tif, drag it on top of the template; resize it to your preference, and drag it to your selected position.
SAVE as a Template and name it.

To recall, use the Custom selection from the print size tab. Select LAYOUT and find your saved layout.
Now  drag your image on the template at the size you want...

Another clean way that Terry made was to CREATE A cutout FROM YOUR LOGO
See screen snaps. That puts your logo on the image,

Hope some of this helps. Hard to explain. Not hard to do

Terry and Fred

Thanks for the help.

I managed to get it to work, however, the logo and signature are designed to be on top of the actual image.  This is great if you want your signature or logo printed on the image surface.  I should have been more descriptive on what I am trying to achieve.

I did not want my logo to be on the image but below the image.  I know this may be different, however, it is much like signing in the reveal or non printed portion of the print.
I have a couple of custom made screw post portfolios for hands-on presentations to galleries and purchasers and the printed logo in the bottom right adds just an extra touch.

I have created a smart object print template in PS, however, I either have to print from PS (which I really don't like) or have to save the image in the PS smart object and then go back into QI to print.  This works, however, I will have lots of extra images stored on my HD and it is also a lot of extra work.

Possibly I am doing something wrong.  The only way I could make it work for my needs was to add an inner border that goes inside the the selected print size. While this works the restriction is that the added border is all around the image and this compromises my image position on the final print.  Adjusting the margins is only partially helpful.

If I was able to adjust just one border on top or bottom it would be perfect or if I was able to freehand move the template image area.  Unfortunately the only way I can see to adjust the template image area is via the margins or borders.

I would appreciate any insights if I am doing something wrong or if there is another way to achieve my needs

Thanks again
Bob

Bob,
Just use MATS instead of borders, or as a border. You can adjust the width of each side individually. See screen snap

Fred
Thanks.  I can't find any reference in the QI help to mats and I have no idea what they are or where to look.  Would it be possible to point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Bob

PS It would be really helpful if Mike would create and updated help section.

Try this....
 see screen snap
See the red V for video right on the mat screen.
Mike found that more people find this easier to get topical help immediately.
