Title: Any suggestions on this?
Post by: MelW on July 08, 2014, 12:35:27 AM
This is certainly NOT a QU problem and certainly not much more than a minor annoyance.  It just started happening about a month ago.  When I go to print - Epson 3000, as soon as QU finishes processing and queues the printer, I get the following the message box shown below. Not a big problem because I just hit continue and the printer prints without a problem.  I have tried changing defaults everywhere - updating the driver etc. etc.  Anyone have any other thoughts.  The only change I have made to my system (Windows 7) other than the QU updates is to change my virus software.

I have a Epson R3000, but have never used the front manual feed tray. It sounds like your printer thinks this tray has paper in it, or a CD tray. I see if you push it in, then it kind of pops out and down. You may want to push it in and out a few times, and check that there is nothing in there. Normal position seems to be that it is fully in and up.

I should have added that I am using the front manual feed tray.  I use it almost exclusively since I use mainly fairly thick matte paper with the matte black ink.

Have you selected one of the three front feed choices for your paper source in the Printer Setup?

Yes - of course - as I mentioned earlier- haven't really changed the setup for months - only time I ever change is the rare instance when I print on glossy - but haven't done that this year.  This just started happening about a month ago. Somewhere, hidden in some setting somewhere, there is a flag that says I am either using (as you suggest) the wrong feed slot, the wrong paper type, size, matter vs glossy - who knows.  Thanks for the suggestions though - as I say, it's only a minor annoyance because as soon as I click continue, it proceeds to print.

Right before you print, click the "Printer Setup" button in QU and check "Paper Source" in the driver.  On Epson printers, there are usually selections like "Sheet", "Front", and "Rear".  Is that setting (in the driver) correct?  Keep in mind that QU remembers the last settings you used and it doesn't pull the printer defaults each time.  So if that setting got changed, it'll remain changed until you update it.

Regards,
Mike

Thanks Mike.  Actually I do that check routinely just to make sure I haven't gumped something up. No whatever is causing this is lying hidden in the bowels of Windows 7.  I suppose I could try printing using the front feeder from another program to see if the same thing happens, but it probably isn't worth all that effort.  It will probably just stop happening one day just as mysteriously as it started.
