Since a RAW file is a "digital negative" that should never actually be changed, what happens when Qimage "modifies" a RAW file, such as sharpening or refining exposure? Is the original RAW file left intact somewhere?

Incidentally I think Deep Focus Sharpening is amazing - many thanks for bringing that too us!

Good question, John.

Qimage treats changes or adjustments to a RAW file in similar fashion to how it keeps changes to a JPG. It creates a filter file (about 1K in size) that is joined at the hip, so to speak, with the RAW file that never, never gets changed.
The Image editor produces .flt files, and the RAW REFINER produces .qrs files.
They are text files and you can view them in Notepad.

Enjoy!

Just to clarify further, The qrs and flt files are stored in the same folder as the image so if you need to move an image to a different folder, do it within Qimage (right mouse click context menu from thumbnail), and the qrs and flt files get moved automatically too.

Thanks Fred and Terry. OK - got it. Just like the sidecar files in Adobe RAW!
