Title: auto-template
Post by: johnlill on September 03, 2022, 08:46:02 PM
Hello! I was a Qimage user for many years but when Qimage One came out, I switched to that since I use a Mac. But I keep my QU license current and use that with VmWare Fusion when I need QU's advanced features. But I can't figure out how to do what I want to do. I would like to be able to tell QU to print x images across and x images down, and to specify the gap between prints, and also to tell it to leave margins of a specific size. Is that possible? I do see the option to say how many prints in each row and column, and I see how to edit the margins under preferences, but how do I also tell it how much space between prints?  Sorry if this has been asked and answered but I could not find the answer by searching the forum.

If you use number of prints per page as your sizing option, it'll split the page to fit exactly that many so there will be no room for a gap.  For example, if you have a page that has 8x10 printable area and you tell it to split into 2x2 rows/cols, then you'll get four "cells", each at a size of 4x5.  In other words, when you split a page into rows/cols, there is no space left for a gap.

BUT... You can basically do what you want using a border.  Continuing with the above example, if you wanted a .5 inch gap between prints, you could add a .25 inch B (not B+) border and that would basically "shrink" each print so it has a .25 inch border on each edge.  I believe that'd give you what you are looking for.  There are many ways to do this.  Another would be to create a reusable custom layout that does the same thing.  But I think the above is probably the simplest.

Regards,
Mike

Perfect! Thanks, Mike, That is exactly what I was looking for. It’s great to see the support is as good as always!
