Mike, in the "Learn by Example" tutorial, you say "The latest versions of Qimage have made double profiling a thing of the past in most cases.  The only way to get into trouble with double profiling is to activate a printer profile in Qimage's color management settings while also activating the "ICM" mode in the print driver.  Having ICC profiles turned on in both the print driver and Qimage can, in some cases, cause double profiling that can result in oversaturated colors.  To avoid double profiling, simply ensure that ICC profiles (or the "ICM" option) is only activated in Qimage or the driver, not both."

I am running Windows 7 64-bit, bith Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5, and using an HP Z3100 and I've just gotten Qimage Ultimate. I can't find where in the HP properties I turn off ICM mode in the driver. Do I select "printer manages color" in the HP driver and then select the profile in Qimage? I'm a bit confused, as you can see.

Perhaps I can help until Mike or Ernst find you.
The point Mike was making is basically saying, either you want Qimage to take care of the color, or you want the printer driver to do it; but not both.

If you use a printer profile in Qimage, then you need to turn off any interference in Color Management from the printer driver.
That means no ICM as that is a sort of profile. In Epson Printers, you check ICM which causes a NO COLOR ADJUSTMENT check box to appear, and when you check that, the printer driver does not mess with the color.
Unfortunately, HP does not permit any driver download unless you have that printer plugged in so I cannot tell you what screen to look at.
Therefore, you need to wait for an HP High End printer owner, Ernst, or Mike.

The manual must have some reference to settings when using a print profile.

Just wanted you to know you haven't been forgotten.

Unlike Epson and Canon, HP drivers are not very consistent on how features are placed or how you select no color adjustment.  Each HP model works a bit differently and I'm not as familiar with the Z3100 as I am some of the other models BUT... from what I remember on the Z3100, there is an option labeled "Application Managed Colors" on the "Color" tab in the driver.  Check that and you should be good to go.

Mike, I found another place that mentions ICM under the Advance tab. If you can tell me how to include a screen shot in a message I'll post it and see what you think.

BTW, I found out my printer had 3 bad printheads and since I've replaced them it looks like it's printing just fine. I still have a lot to learn about Qimage, but I think I'm going to like it a lot.

Hi David,
To get you going, you can include a screen shot by clicking  "Additional Options" at the bottom left corner of a reply box. That shows a place to browse and enter an image. Note the size restrictions.

So are you saying turn of both monitor icc and printer icc in Ultimate?. I have the z6100 and use icm handled by printer box in the HP driver menu.

OK, here's the screenshot of the advanced tab in the Z3100 driver. As you can see, under graphic>Image color management>ICM method, it is "disabled." This appears to be the default. In any event, I've tried a couple of prints with Qimage selecting "application managed color" and they've printed just fine. I don't think I've got any double profiling.
