Title: Borders affecting image size
Post by: RogerC on July 15, 2025, 11:07:27 AM
When adding a gallery mirror inner border to an image, the image size is changing.
I'm using a Canon Pro 4600 - AI is not supported on this model - just in case this is relevent?

Example of issue but occurs on different roll media/sizes:
Using 24" matt paper roll
Set width 609
Set auto roll length

Print size - 297 x 420mm (A3)
Add required image.
Image popup confirms correct image size.

Select image. Add gallery mirror inner border - 25mm
Dimensions now 470 x 309.1mm
Expecting 470 x 347 (+50 border)

Select image. Reselect 297x420 print size.
Size changes to 470 x 325.9
Still wrong

Repeat above:
Select image. Reselect 297x420 print size.
Size changes to 470 x 334.3
Still wrong

Repeat above:
Select image. Reselect 297x420 print size.
Size changes to 470 x 347

Why does size change when adding the borders (set to B+ to add to outside)?
Why do I have to press the 297x420mm print size 3 times to get 297x420?

Thanks

I think in this case where you are using B+ borders that make your print size larger, auto roll length is fighting you.  Turn off auto roll length and set your page length to something long: long enough to easily hold all the prints you want to place on the page.  Then at the end when you are done adding all your prints (and borders), turn auto roll length on.

Mike

Thanks.

Ummm... how do you turn off auto length...?
If I simply type my own (longer) length in, it reverts to the previous value when I click the confirmation tick button.

Same way you turned it on: click the button.

Oh wow!!! Cryptic!!!
I hadn't even noticed it changed colour (shade) to show on/off.

Was about to post another query regarding page sizes - turns out I had auto length on and it kept over-riding my settings...!!!

Live & learn...

Thanks
