Hi. I am using the Qimage Ultimate with a Canon Pro-1000 and a Canon Pro-4100 printer. I am having no problems with The Pro-1000 (been printing 8.5 X 11 inch prints) On the Canon Pro-4100 I am usually getting a different size print than I program in. My Qimage Ultimate previews usually show a print with minimal borders (I do not use borderless printing). When the print comes out the borders are much bigger than I wanted. The paper size is accurate but the print doesn't fill up the paper. I am primarily using a 24" wide paper roll. I have the proper Red River paper ICC profile set for the paper type. I am relatively new to using a wide format printer and this problem is really bugging me. Thanks very much for any help.

Standard operating procedure in a case like this is to hold your mouse over the print on Qimage's main live view and read the print size that is listed in the popup. Then measure the print when it comes out of the printer with a measuring tape. If the actual print is any size other than what Qimage listed in the popup info, the driver is modifying the print size (scaling). You have to do these two physical measurements because sometimes the paper (or roll) isn't quite the size you think it is which can make the preview look different than the print... meaning the look/size of the borders is not relevant at this point. We just want to see how the sizes compare first, so let's do these two measurements first to see how they compare.

By the way, you don't have to reprint if you still have the last one you printed. Just click the "Open Automated Job Log" button at the top of Qimage and open the most recent job: you can hold the mouse over the print in that job to see what size Qimage lists for the print.

Hi. I just measured my last print and the set print size was Poster 20X30 inches and the actual print size was 20x30 inches. Maybe I do not have a problem after all. Many thanks to your input on this. I am going to try print something next time 24X30 inches so I don't have the 4 inch border I had on this last print. Kudos.

Hi. Okay my output print size seems to be correct but my output page has a border which doesn't show in the preview. I have attached 2 pics of my settings for my latest print and a picture of the output print in a separate post (because of the forum file size limitations). My roll is 24 inches wide and the print was indeed pretty close to 24X18 but that darn white border. Any suggestions as to what I need to do to get output to match the preview? Thanks.

Your print looks exactly like the preview (live view) to me. I see a tiny white border on Qimage's live view and the same tiny white border on the print. Your first screenshot shows 26.73 inches as your horizontal size. That means you are not using borderless printing so your printer/driver cannot print more than 23.76 inches across. So it can't print the full 24 inch roll. You can activate borderless mode but you are then subject to all the negative aspects of borderless printing: https://youtu.be/15G1AWZTVwoRegards, Mike |

I can see from your screenshot that you've defined the width of the roll as 18 inches and the length to 24 inches. Since you defined the width as 18 inches, you are going to have a 6 inch gap across the page. Define your width as 24 inches instead so Qimage (and the printer) can use the whole width of the roll. You can use the auto roll length feature as well: so you only have to worry about the 24 inch width and Qimage takes care of the length automatically.

Hi. If I had set the orientation as portrait with everything else set the same would it have printed correctly without any large borders? I really appreciate your excellent help.

No, because by setting the paper width to 18 inches you have denied it the opportunity to print across the full 24 inch roll: you'll always get a 6 inch gap on the width because by defining the width as 18 inches, you essentially told it that the paper is 18 inches wide so it can't print past 18 inches across. In the future, just be sure to set the width to the roll width to avoid confusion and limitations. Mike |

Hey I see the width on this screenshot says 18 inches. I had it set at 24 inches and it changed on me, What caused that? Any ideas?

Hi again. I think I found my problem as to why the width changed from 24 to 18. I need to click on the green check mark by the settings to get the settings to hold. Am I right? Thanks again for putting up with all my questions.
