I was wondering if there was a way to change the page order?
I am using Qimage to layout and print photobooks. Some pages have multiple images on them. In this case, I am printing on both sides of the paper.
What I am wanting to do is say move page 13 to the end where page 16 is.
I use Qimage almost every day, and I realize it is not a desktop publishing program. I just wonder if this function existed.
Thanks, Jason

There's no specific function for moving pages.  This is a difficult thing to accomplish unless your pages are in "Freehand" placement mode due to the fact that automatic pagination is rather fluid and rearranging prints would not guarantee that an entire page would end up where you want it.  With that said, you could do something clever like select all the prints on page 13 using the main live view and then right click and select "On Deck" and "Place on Deck and Remove from Queue".  That will remove page 13 while leaving the prints from that page in the On Deck area where you can add them back later or at another spot in the job.

I print photo books all of the time and have one other suggestion.  Save individual pages - or perhaps a small group of pages - as a job. Then you can print them  and assemble in any order you want.  Most of my album pages have multiple photos on them, but often, I will find that a photo I had placed in an early page, will really work or fit better later on in the book. While the cut, copy, paste will work for this, I find it much cleaner and easier to work with jobs containing between 6 and maybe 20 photos - and either 1, 2 or 4 pages - than a large job with 30 or more pages and 150 or 200 photos. I usually create a new save folder for the jobs, then name the jobs either by theme or planned page number. (or both e.g., lacrosse tournament pages 3 and 4)

Yes - two sided.  For matte pages I use Moab Entrada Rag Bright two sided, for PK pages I use Inkpress Luster Duo

Hi Mike,
This topic i.e. page order is of particular interest to me as I wish to move forward a page in a current job comprising 15 pages to a new location.
I have followed your suggestion on selecting the prints and placing them ‘On Deck’.
I am now at a standstill as I don’t know how to bring them onto the new location in the job..
Can you help me please?

I'm a bit confused on the terminology "move forward a page in a current job comprising 15 pages".  I don't really know what you mean by that but ignoring that and focusing on how to put images on deck anywhere...

Go to the page where you want to insert the images, then go to on deck and select all the images in there, then click and drag them onto the page:

  • Drop them on the left edge of the first print on the page to insert the new images before the current page
  • Drop them on the right edge of the last print on the page to insert the new images after the current page

Note: Keep in mind that this only inserts prints at a location so you may not end up with a "page" if you have mixed sizes because Qimage auto-arranges.

Mike

Hi Mike,
Sorry about the confusion.
I have a print on a single page which I wish to insert between pages 6 and 7 of a job.
When i drag the image from 'On Deck' to the  to the left edge of page 6, it simply replace the image on page 6.
I must be doing something wrong. Cn you figure it out for me.

It never replaces an image unless you are holding the Alt key when you drop the image.  When you drop it, it goes where you drop it and everything else is "repaginated".  I don't know what your pages look like: is it one print per page (big prints) or multiples on a page?  Let's take an example where you have a bunch of pages with one big print on each page.  Take an image and drop it on the left half of the print on page 6 (not on the page itself) and it might look like it replaces the print on page 6 but what is happening is that you are placing the new print before the print on page 6 which places that print on page 6 and moves everything else forward 1 page.  So the print on page 6 actually moves to page 7, the print on page 7 moves to page 8, and so on.

This is nothing more than an "insert image".  Just make sure the sort option under the live view isn't turned on.

Regards,
Mike
