I posted this as a suggestion in the Wishlist thread, but based upon a response from Fred A, I thought it might be wiser to post here.   I am working on 8.5x11 glossy/luster (i.e. PK) prints.  The problem I am having is that the borders on the short side (top and bottom) appear to be uneven.  I have attached a pic which shows the borders as being uneven in Qimage, and this is indeed what I am presented with on the print itself.  I am hoping that this is not another Canon Pro 1000 printing limitation (such as the required huge 1 inch top and bottom borders for Matte paper).  Since Qimage appears to center the image against the “page” rather than the “paper”, I need to find an easier way to center images.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

I must have the print size from you please, and also a screen shot of the page Editor showing the placement of the print.
Like the samples below. Actual margins both vertical and horizontal and the print size.

Actual print size is 8.0 x 10.69
Print location - 12-top;20-bottom;25 - each side
borders = 0,0

You want 8.0 x 11.0
That makes zero margins.
Just do borderless and Fit to Page

You want 8.0 x 10.69
Fit to page (and please set placement to Intelli-spaced and not Center
That will give you a margin of.25 on either side and a .12 and a .20 on the other dimension.
That is what the driver will allow.

Thanks. I appreciate your answer, but I am not sure you understand my question. I am trying to find a way to automate centering on the paper, not the page. It is not about resizing the Image, which is already sized to fit within the page and allowable margins.  For example, if I have an image that is 7.5x9, which fits within the borders for all media types supported in the driver. However, I have to manually center the image on the paper, because QImage defaults to centering against the "page" (i.e , the paper less the unprintable margins?  I hope this makes my inquiry more clear.  Thanks again.

Intellispace centers on the paper, not the printable area, so that does exactly what you are asking for.  Now, if you've already sized your print to "Fit to Page" and your non-printable margins are not centered, realize that it is impossible to center the print on the paper.  That is, if the printable area is not centered, you have to use some of the printable area in order to counter the uneven non-printable margins.  So if you haven't filled up your printable area and there's slack to work with and your print is big enough (not just one small print), Intellispace centers on the physical paper.

Long story short: if you set placement to Intellispace, it'll always center as close as possible to the center of the physical paper.  If it isn't centered, it isn't possible to center a print that large on the current paper/driver setup.  Think of it this way, if you fill the entire printable area by sizing "Fit to Page", you can't move the print: there is nowhere else but that one spot to print a print that large.  You can't move it down to center it: because everything below the print is non-printable area.
