Title: Cutting off end of prints
Post by: johnny hulgan on May 05, 2012, 06:29:09 PM
I'm printing 5x7's of classroom groups on 10" long roll paper.  It show on Qimage everything looks good.  When done printing the first and sometimes parts of the last prints are cut off.  What am I doing wrong.

Hi Johnny,
We need a bunch of info. Need the printer model, the paper size, is it a 10" wide roll, or some standard other size?
How many 5 x 7s on the page?
Let's start there.

Fred

This is the size I'm using for the least amount of cutting: 10.018x42.  I use a Epson 7880 Printer.  I've used at different size at always the first and last cut off.

You are placing teh two 5 x 7s side by side on the 5" side so it equals 10"?
How many prints on the 42" sheet?

Hi Johnny
Seems pretty straightforward.

See the screen snaps.
I set my user defined page to 10.01 and 42.0.
I ticked Borderless.
I set my print size in Qimage to 5 x 7 (auto crop on)
Added my 12 prints.....

Snap 071 shows the layout page in the driver.... leave that alone, just the way you see it.

Snap 075 is a print preview in the driver showing a little part of a print chopped off at the left side. ( I suspect that is what you are getting?)

Snap 077 is showing the same Print Preview with the entire car in the print. (left side.)

If that's the problem, the fix is to click on the EXPANSION Button in the driver, and place a dot in Retain size.
Alternative method: Click Disable overspray in Qimage Cheater.

Snap 078 is showing the box where you would tick "Retain size"

The main point to remember. Check the queue. If Qimage is saying it is going to print 12- 5x7s, then that's what is going to the printer.
If you don't get that from the printer, let's check our driver settings.

I cannot send more than 4 snaps per post, So let's see how you are doing.
I hope we are close to the mark.

Fred

You can see it in the screen snap in my previous message.
How to get to it?
See attached screen snap.
Once you check Borderless, that Expansion button appears. If Borderless is unchecked, you wont see it.
