Title: Double clicking on Thumbnail Post by: jrosen2 on September 29, 2010, 08:37:24 PM This may have been asked before, but I could not find a reference to it.
In the studio edition, double clicking on the thumbnail put the image into the queue. In Ultimate, it opens up the editing window. Is there any way of reverting it back to the way studio edition handled it? Thanks Title: Re: Double clicking on Thumbnail Post by: Fred A on September 29, 2010, 09:49:45 PM Click on the little PLUS sign in the thumbnail. That puts the image in the queue. ..... and neat as a pin, in the same place on the image in the preview panel, there's a MINUS sign to remove it from the queue.
Pretty slick. You have the PLUS to put it in the queue. You have double click on the thumb to get to the quick editor screen, and you still have double click on the preview image to get to the Batch Editor screen. If you double click off the preview image, in the blank area either just to the right or just below the preview panel, you get to the FULL PAGE EDITOR screen. That last one is a secret, so don't tell anyone. While Mike's logic is sound as to why the change, my own habits, inclinations and workflow methods have remained stubborn (though I'm still trying to convince my fingers that logically the new way is better -- darn those intransigent fingers!) . Though this might not be the best solution for you, when I have volume work to perform, I still use Studio - the interface just works better for me. When I need the features of Ultimate, I engage that version. If you own both programs, this is an easy compromise as the printing features are identical. It is common to all of us. The cure is simply to allow enough 'getting used to" time to have the old habits fade and the new ones replace them. There's nothing wrong with the software. It's like changing cars. The old one had the shift lever on the column, and the new one has the shift lever on the console. Keep using Ultimate, and let the old habits fade. You are absolutely correct about residual muscle memory! And please understand that I never indicated in any way that there is something wrong with the software. The double clicking just works better for me. It's easier for me to double click a large square than aim for a little plus sign, especially when moving quickly. I can certainly retrain my stubborn fingers (and brain) but I don't see any advantage in doing so. Coupled with the print and queue box changes, I find - for my purposes when doing volume work - the Studio interface works better for me. It's just a personal choice. Since I have both programs and there is no difference in the printing aspect, it's not a big deal and a pretty easy solution. |
