Hi, Is there any chance that Qimage U  will ever support printing directly to an Epson SC-F6200?

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks,
Qimage Ultimate is a Windows supported program.
Qimage prints directly to any printer driver that runs in Windows.
Not sure what you are asking?
If you want to print with no interference from the driver affecting the print, then invoke No Color Adjustment in  the driver.

Thanks for the quick response.

The F6200 doesn't have a printer driver per se. It comes with Wasatch RIP software which provides its own (Wasatch's) driver and spooler specific to the F6200.

Epson includes the Wasatch RIP in lieu of a driver.

The F6200 doesn't even show up in "Devices and Printers".

I don't like the Wasatch RIP software.

I gather from your answer that without a specific Windows driver, Qimage cannot print to a printer. I thought that might be the case, but was wondering, if perhaps, Mike Chaney might someday have a version of Qimage U that would/could replace the Wasatch RIP.

I had a quick look on the Epson UK website and a driver is listed - doesn't appear to be a RIP?

PS. There seems to be a conventional driver available on the US web site too.

Hi Terry,

Thanks so much. Unfortunately, the files you found are not actual drivers. They are the same file and the file is a communication driver. Its' purpose is to communicate with the printer to install firmware updates. The installer (a person) for the printer used it when we setup the printer. If you don't have your dealer physically install/setup the printer it voids the warranty.

According to Epson's US web site FAQs for this printer,
"Q: Does the printer come with an Epson printer driver?
A: No, there is no standard Epson printer driver for the printer. Wasatch RIP software is used to print.
Note: There is a Communication Driver (available for download) which is used to update the firmware."

Also, the service manual says, "EPSON driver is not provided for Windows nor for Mac. Supports RIP made by 3rd parties"

Thanks very much for your effort!

That's a CMYK dye-sub printer and Qimage only works with RGB printers.*

Using Wasatch was probably Epson's best option for a printer with a limited user base like this: it's fairly quick and easy to set up optimal ink curves, but I'd agree that it's not very user-friendly for the day-to-day operator.

*(if there is a way for Qimage to print directly to a CMYK printer I'd love to have that info.)
