Hi All,

Now have new PC on Win8 and 64bit.
Currently use PS Elements 8 which works OK but in 32bit.
Looking to upgrade this to PSE 13, still in 32bit, or switch to alternative software which will make use of my 64bit PC.
I have gone thru' all details of Ultimate, and all looks very good, but unable to see if I can add borders and text to provide border(s) around image and a title at bottom of print as I can do in PS Elements.
I produce a lot of my photos as exhibition prints so it is important to me.

Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, it can do all that very easily.
See this thread in QU Challenges here:
http://ddisoftware.com/tech/qimage-ultimate-challenges/challenge-4-make-a-book-page-with-multiple-borders-text/
There are various text functions but Floating Text on the page is most appropriate for what you want to do. You can set up to 2 borders on an image print and there are ways of doing more. Note both of the above are print functions and do not require any changes to an image.

You'll be blown away by the print quality of QU; download the trial and have a go. Any queries ask here and we are ready to help.
A friendly warning, forget everything about how you print with PSE. No "sizing" an image to a particular resolution and all that stuff; QU does that for you based on data from the printer driver. Merely set the print size in inches or mm and QU interpolates with the most advanced algorithm there is to give wonderful prints.
All colour management settings are there right on the main screen; printer settings are retained and various setups can be saved; smart print sharpening - I could go on .............

Terry emailed me asking if I had any more juicy stuff to add.
I certainly do.
Wait until you try DFS.   Deep Focus Sharpening.
It replaces USM left behind like it was a relic of the dinosaur.

No more halos.... deep sharpening.... and add to that, the ability to use TONE TARGETED SHARPENING; sharpening by tone or color selection... you have a quality level at your disposal not even dreamed of by your other software.

As Terry said, Try the free demo and after watching the videos, ask any and all questions you might have.

Hi Fred A & Terry M,

Many thanks for your response and you tube link.

Understand the principles of the sharpening you have demonstrated - must confess I have not had problems with the halo effect as shown.

Will download the demo version over the weekend and try it out.

Many thanks.

John A

PS If I can work out how your insert an image works I will show what I currently do

Are those the Latin names of some species?
John, Fred is right, I enjoy macro photography too, amongst many other subjects.
See attached below: A Hawk moth, an Orb Spider spinning and a wasp. A competition judge was impressed with the definition of the wasp (print), he could say what sex it was by counting the segments on its antenna.
All my images (raw) are processed in QU and I rarely use a separate editor.

Listen fellas, I appreciate your expertise with macro lenses and close ups, but your subject matter......!
Hasn't either of you ever heard of girls?

I'd rather have a nibble from a girl whatever the cost.

Hi Guys,

Attached are the two missing prints that should have been attached to my first post.

And Fred, the Swallowtail butterfly is a girl!!

Will shortly download the trial version of Ultimate - will post my findings later.

Ok John,
So you see you can have a laugh and still exchange ideas on this forum.
On Borders, just open the print properties box on the print in the queue, and select to use one or two borders, controlling the thickness and the color. You can even use the eye dropper to match a color from the print!
As Terry mentioned, you can add additional borders if you need more than two.

See screen snaps...
042 is showing you the border selection in the print property box which not only permits two colored borders, but with a click, lets you select whether you want the borders added to the size print, or included in the size print!

041 is just showing you some floating text on a print.
Again, you have options to print with the text, where the text is on the  image, and you can change it for subsequent prints, or you can make the text part of the image so you can add it to a web page or email it.

So Enjoy, and learn Qimage.
You will love it...

I could see that easily.  Notice how she is tantalizing the boys by emphasizing that area with a special change of color in that area.
.... and the name says it all!
