I photographed a cabaret last night. Rubbish lighting, 4,000 ASA and a cracking good F1.2 lens got me some shots.

QU made quite a good stab. Snag is there were men (and ladied) in black suits/frocks against an overlit background. For most of the frames I have had to lift the default 'Fill' on the RAW interpreter.

This has quite often made the black attire light grey and I need in the +Levels panel in Edit to move the Shadow slider across to about the 16 mark.

As far as I see I cannot save that setting as a single filter (or can I?). My thought was to emulate it on the Curves panel by clicking on where the diagonal reads 16 and pullling it down to zero. Curves it seems can be saved.

I have about 100 shots to correct. Would you wizards say this is the best way to go about it?

OK . I see what you mean.

Clear out all the other adjustments and just alter that +Levels slider.

Then save it as a filter.

I'll give it a go tomorrow.

I had forgotten about the right click.

Mike mentioned it a while ago when I wanted to batch change some DFS settings.

I probably need to go back and double check that I did not overwrite my existing DFS settings when I applied my histogram change. Something to while away a wet Sunday!

EDIT. Now I look at the difference between finding a filter in Edit and finding one with a thumbnail and right click I feel confident that I'll be OK. I was just picking a batch of thumbs of shots I knew needed the left hand slider moving. So my other settings such as DFS will not have got over written. Need to find something else to do whilst it drizzles. (Have you ever checked your camera and light batteries, Terry?
