Title: Full Page Editor: Why so much empty real estate on a 27" monitor?
Post by: Thomas Krüger on October 12, 2011, 06:28:11 AM
With the Full Page Editor I get always a lot of empty real estate on a 27" monitor. Is it possible to maximize the preview of the printed area?
Maybe this is also related to the printer driver? Our printer is a 24" HP Z3100, the paper format at this example is set to 16x24" landscape.

Good morning, Tom.
Just a guess from my remembering from years ago, but I think it's related to the need to have the screen compatible with 800 x 600 screen resolution users.
Maybe Mike can make a vertical separator bar like on the main screen where the user can pull it left or right to make the free space fit better.

Nowadays a screen resolution of 800 x 600 is for Smartphones... I'm working with 1920 x 1200 on a old NEC 2690.

Has nothing to do with screen resolution.  Turn the page portrait and you'll see why.  The page has to be able to fit both ways: portrait and landscape, and it would be awkward to have the page fatten up only when you turn it landscape: both orientations should be the same size.

That's right. So there is no magical zoom option to use the maximum area for the preview. Can I put this feature on the to-do list for Santa Claus?

The ability to zoom (in either orientation) is on the list.  I'll have to check to see who's been naughty or nice to see which items from the list make it to the holiday gifts.  :)

Should I mail a good bottle of Barbera from Piemont?   ;D

I'm not too picky.  A bottle of Laphroaig will do.  ;)

Here in Italy remains only good food and wine. All the rest is going nuts.   :(

Well - from Maryland, can't offer much in the way of fine whiskey or wine - (maybe some Natty Boh) - but here is my vote for the page editor zoom - has been near the top of my wish list for a while.
