Title: Help lost my settings
Post by: hongu123 on April 07, 2011, 04:20:27 PM
Hi I just had a I/O error when I ran a layout I had saved and qi would not shut down and just kept coming up with this error. So I killed it in taskmanager so as usual when I next started qi up it said not shut down correctly do you want to reset settings or normal. So I clicked normal (well I though I had!) and it started up but all my settings where gone. Do I have to set everything myself again or is there a way to get them back?
Thanks Phill

Hi Phil,
If you have any sort of backup, even from 6 months ago, you can retrieve the settings by copying the "ini" files to the current Qimage.

Fred,
I would like to do a manual back up and place these "ini'' files in a second location with a (temp changed name) so if I should have an issue such as Phills I can restore the program as you said.

I cannot find any "ini'' files in the Qimage program folder, where do they reside?
Thanks in advance,
David

Hi David,
Depending on which version of windows you are running, the stuff might be in two places.
So the best answer is to open Qimage. ( I assume you are in Ultimate)
Click Utilities at the top left; FILE EDIT VIEW UTILITIES..........
Now click on Explore Qimage Application Data. That will take you to the correct folder.

I found 6 .ini files.
Addresses.ini
FCCM.ini
ICM.ini
Qimagepr.ini
Qimage-U.ini
Sizes.ini
and the last one,    Belly-button.ini

(just joking about the last one of course. Yours may say belly-button.outie!)

As long as you are saving, you also might consider the SAVE folder located in the same place, and the Profile folder in case you have camera profiles.
