Title: Huge problems Startin QU
Post by: Jules on October 23, 2017, 02:49:18 PM
I don't know what is going on. but recently i have had huge problems getting QU to open. I must have re-downloaded QU ten times. I am working on a PC Windows & professional 6GB Ram 64 Bit OS 3.3Ghz. Occasionally I have got a memory error so Have closed all other running programmes.
When I click on the QU icon I usually get a message....Do you want the following programme to make changes to this computer? If i say No nothing happens. If I click yes i get a warning saying that Qimage did not close down properly last session..Prior shutdown exit Code: 4- exist...Since you are running Windows XP (I thought I was running W7) it gives me the option to start in Normal or Safe. Neither starts QU.
I am at a loss. do i buy a new computer. QU used to run faltlessly. I run NOD all the time who claim to stop all viruses.

Hi Jules,
Try Holding the shift key down when you click the QU icon to open.
What happens when QU opens?
Sounds like OS is corrupted if it thinks you are in XP
Fred

To close: FILE  EXIT WITHOUT SAVING if you want to go back to before SHIFT open

Thanks for getting back to me Fred. I will give this a try. The weird thing is that sometimes it does open, but about ten mintues after I had been trying! Meanwhile other progs, PS, LR, iTunes, Filezilla, Nero etc all open and work instantly.
At the moment it is running and I'm not closing it again!! How can I tell if it is running in W7 or XP? Is there a way?

If it is telling you that you're running Windows XP, that could be the problem.  Right click on the Qimage Ultimate desktop icon (assuming that's how you open it), select "Properties", and check the compatibility options.  Make sure it isn't set for Windows XP compatibility mode.  None of the compatibility options should be checked.

Regards,
Mike

Ah!!!!!!! ******  :D ;D >:( :( :o ??? ::)
Thank you Mike and Fred. It was running in XP. I didn't even know I had XP on this computer. I changed the Compatability to Windows 7 as you suggested and it opens immediately. How would I ever have know this was the problem without your help. The hours I have wasted not to mention hair I have pulled out  ???
Thanks again.
Jules

Oh dear, it's me again. Having thought that my problems were behind me, I find they are not. I was ok for a bit and then the trouble started again. When I try to ope Qimage i get the greetings screen in the middle of my monitor, which just stays there, but as soon as click on it, it disappears. I have tried opening in Normal and Safe mode. I have tried opening and holding the Shift key. In properties/Compatability, the compatabilty mode is ticked and Windows 7 chosen although this is greyed out. I can get to change this if I choose Change Setting For All Users. All the Settings below that option are not checked.
What am i doing wrong?  >:(
I have just noticed that when trying to open Q I see a message that it doidn't close down last time due to
Prior exitt code 11c
Is that any help?
