I am adding floating text and then making new photos.  But the text is not showing up in the copies.  It doesn't matter whether I use the Convert Images dialogue or the Create Email/Web size copies dialogue. In each case I click the Honor print crops and stamps.  Must be something I'm doing wrong - but darn if I know.  Someone - hit me over the head!

First of all it works here at my house.  There are a few settings that you need to check. LINK TO box. Then you need to dot your choice. I generally use "selected" if I want the same text on two, and I hold the CTRL key and select both. If the two are copies you probably want the text in the same place on both. Position one, and QU will ask you what to do with the other one; move the same???
It's sort of tricky to explain, but seeing it is easier.
You can see that placement may call for dragging, and the first click location may make the second text way off. Just drag it . Give it the finger and drag it.
If you want to come over, I'll get pizza.

Hi Fred -

Thanks - but I have and am doing all that.  I use floating text frequently in printing so I know the drill pretty well.  I am using Comic Sans Serif font, size 108, bold, color picked with a dropper.  It shows up fine on the prints, but just doesn't show up on the reduced/copied jpegs.  When I get home later, I can send screen shots.  I am wondering if it's the font size which is manually set and is bigger than the largest one in the size drop down.  I can experiment with that idea later.

Have to go out now, but I'd rather go your place for pizza.

Woops - just realized - I think you misunderstood my problem.. Not worrying about copying the text from one print to another - that's not the problem.  The problem is that the text is not showing up on copies of the photos that I make using either "Create E-mail/web size copies" or with the "Convert Images " dialogue.

Floating text is a page editing object so it can't be "converted" or sent with images.  When you check the box to honor print crops and stamps, it honors crops, info stamp (from the image editor), and copyright stamps: those all go on images.  Since floating text is a page attribute, that "doesn't go" when converting or creating images.  Never has.

To do that, you'd have to print to file: and you'd have to print full pages and not use the RIP function that rips images off the page.

Mike

Thanks Mike - that makes sense.  Somehow I thought I had done this sometime in the past. Maybe a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

I'm just trying to use some photos as title slides with captions for a little family video I'm creating.  I'll try the print-to-file first as I would rather do this in QU; but I do have other ways to do this if I have to.

Thanks

I know the feeling.  Sometimes I feel like the universe branched at some point and the one I'm in somehow feels alien... like the wrong universe.  So maybe in another universe I added an option to caption your images.

Like some sort of Mandela effect.  Wink

I accomplished what I needed to do by setting borderless  - so that print size equals page size - and then printing to file. work great.

One of the things I love is that QU lets you go back and look at any job that you have ever run - ever.  In my case that goes back 17 years.  So I remember that I had created a set of slides with floating text many many years ago that I thought (mistakenly) that I had created with the "Create E-mail/web copies" command.  So just for grins, I went back to see what I had actually done. And there it was.  In 2009. You'll love this.  I printed to pdf.
