Title: ICC Profiles
Post by: bobettinger on November 25, 2017, 09:00:08 PM
Just installed QU 2018. I can see the ICC profiles for Epson paper but not the ones for other papers such as Moab. They appear in PS but not QU. What am I missing

Thanks

Bob

Hi Bob,
I suspect PS holds printer profiles in its own location but there is a standard Windows locaatio that Windows uses, and therefore QU uses. It's C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color.
In Windows 10 64there can

You can copy the profiles there or simply right click on the profile file (wherever it is) and click Install. This automatically places it in the Windows Color folder.
FYI. QU does have a "profile" folder at C:\ProgramData\ddisoftware\profiles but these are mainly camera profiles.

Terry,

Thanks for the response. I checked the Windows location and there are many more profiles than I can see in QU. I guess there must be another solution.

OK. let's get some detail:-
Can you see the Moab profiles in the Windows location?
Were you using an earlier version of QU before installing QU 2018, which version before and now?
Where in QU are you searching for printer profiles? It should be from the Printers and Settings tab.
When browsing for printer profiles, make sure the the Color Management window and the ICC Profile Selection window is set to printers, see screen shot attached.
If for some reason it is set to printers and the Moab profiles are not visible, then set to "All" and see if you can find them. It may be possibe they're somehow not designated as printer profiles.
If they're still not visible in QU, the only thing I can suggest is you go the to the Windows color folder and right click on the missing profiles to "Install Profile". Do that with one and check QU again.
Please report back that you checked all I suggested above and the results.
PS. Note that QU shows both the file name and description of a profile, they can be different so make sure you are checking in both columns.

Bob,
I downloaded a MOAB profile and installed it. QU had no problem in "seeing" it. See screen shot attached.

Terry,

I think I am wrong in my description. I am not familiar with this program.  Yes, the profiles are there in QU. I am assuming that they should appear in paper type as well. So if I am using Moab Slip Rock it should appear in paper type and it does not. In the screen shot it shows Metallic Glossy or some other description but no Moab Slip Rock.

So I guess my question is:  What do I select as paper type?

Thanks again

Bob

Hi Bob,
Filling in for Terry for a second. He has guests.
The paper selection should be found on a slip of paper that is packed with the printing paper
The profile has to be selected HERE  https://www.moabpaper.com/icc-profiles-downloads/
They will show you what to download for your printer and the type of paper you bought.

The paper selection will be a suggestion from MOAB to use one of the papers showing in Epson's list.
After downloading their profile for their paper and your printer, do as Terry said to get it into the correct folder.

Then in Qimage Printers and settings tab, click on Media TYPE and select. Then Media size and select.
Drop down to PRINTER PROFILES. Open that and find the Moab profile from the list.
Let us know how you are doing.

Fred
