ARGH! I just had a client's 10 foot long canvas print from Qimage Ultimate (v2017.102) crap out right at the very end!  Angry

What I see is that a section of the image wasn't printed starting at 9.25" from the end *but* the solid black edge was printed right to the end. It appears the image is being printed in 3" swaths across the canvas, so what I see is 2 1/2 swaths of white space inside the solid black edge where there should be image in the last 9.25" of the print. The first 112" are fine.

The specifics of the file: TIFF, 36488 x 10388 pixels @ 300 ppi (121.63" x 34.63").

The specifics of the job from the log:

This file is a Qimage print job.
A print job contains all information necessary to restore Qimage to a certain "state" including all images in the
queue and all settings such as page size, paper type, printer profile, margins, etc.

I have tried to print this image to a file @ 600 ppi and Qimage can't do it for lack of resources.

Are there other ways to debug this?

Here is a photo of the end of the print job showing the issue. If you look closely, you can see that the solid black edge was printed to the end, but there is a large area of missing image.

I re-ran job with the HP driver print-preview enabled and it shows that Qimage is not generating a complete print. I'm not sure what I can do the file to get a full print. Any suggestions appreciated.

I re-sampled the file to 85 ppi and re-ran the job letting Qimage up-sample to the full print size, again using the HP driver print-preview. The file specs this time were PSD, 10328 x 2933 px @ 85 ppi (121.51" x 34.51"), PSD file.

The same thing happened.

I have a theory on this one.  First, some background.  If QU's progress gets to 100% and says finished processing without any errors, all the data was sent to the driver: QU gets confirmation from Windows that Windows has successfully passed the information on to the driver.  At that point, we're looking at the driver not being able to process all the data it received.  At the size you are printing and with QU set to 600x600, the driver will be getting about 4.5 GB of data.  It looks to me like the driver has a 4GB limit (that would not be uncommon as that's the limit of a 32 bit unsigned integer).  So I think what is happening is that you are seeing the driver cut off when it has received 4GB of data (about the 95% mark which seems to agree with your print/preview).

To avoid this, I would suggest setting QU's resolution numbers on the main window to "High" instead of "Max" so that QU interpolates to 300 PPI instead of 600 PPI.  600 PPI is really overkill anyway on that size print, particularly since your original is 300 PPI.  Try that and use the print preview (to confirm, without using paper) and see if that allows you to get the full image.

Mike, you nailed it. I just ran with the Interpolation set to High-300 PPI and the HP driver print preview shows a complete print, which I feel fairly confident I can release to the printer.

I will report this issue to HP.

Terry, my settings are Print Spooler Format: EMF - Fast Printing. How does RAW differ (besides the speed) and is there any impact on print quality?
