Title: Intellicut using roll paper
Post by: studio2107 on December 02, 2024, 11:25:27 PM
I have been printing using QI for years, but I am new to using roll paper and hope someone can help me. I am using a Canon 2600 with 24inch roll paper. I also have a rotary paper cutter with a 24 inch throat. Sofar so good. My problem is when I start adding photos of different sizes using Intellicut the photos get arranged in a way that would actually be very difficult to cut. I will attach a photo of the screen shot.
Any instruction would be helpful.
Thanks, Jason

I see the problem.  Intellicut is designed to always leave prints "cuttable" from the page, meaning it won't box you in so that you have to make partial cuts: you'd be able to cut all prints using full cuts across the page.  But in your case, I see that the first cut would have to be along the length of the page which won't fit in your cutter as your page length is >24 inches.  When "gang printing" various sizes like you are, I would recommend not using the auto roll length feature and set the length of the "page" via the driver to 24 inches so that either way Intellicut lays them out, it'll fit in your cutter.

I'll look into adding a future feature where Intellicut considers the length and not making that the first cut, especially when in auto roll length mode.

Regards,
Mike

Thank you sir.
I hope you can add that feature, I would use it a lot.
