Title: Is there a way to preserve transparency when printing to file?
Post by: mdrake2016 on May 20, 2021, 03:44:33 PM
My goal with Qimage is to output pages to files after I lay them out within the software. All of my images have transparent backgrounds and I noticed during my trial that when printing to file, it makes the background white on the TIF files that were generated.

Is there a way to keep the transparency instead of having them become white?

"Overlap" transparency is not currently supported but it is being investigated for inclusion in the future.

Hi

We are strongly interested in this feature.

Is is still planned ?

Actually this is reason why we cannot use Qimage.

We are waiting for it

It's still on the list but features that help everyone are a higher priority.  The only time transparency is an issue is when you want to print a transparent image on top of another image.  If you are not in that very narrow/specific category, transparency prints white and it works fine so it affects very few people.

Thanks you for your answer Mike

In our case, we are using white ink this is why we need transparency.

If there is no transparency management then we got white printed on all the transparency surface.

Have you got an idea if you gonna integrate this in 2022 or better we look for other solution ?

Or maybe you also make custom developpment ? If so, what would be the cost for integrate transparency ?

Kind regards

Tristan

There are only about 2 months left in 2022 so I think it's safe to say it won't happen in that amount of time.
