Hi,
Last year Terry helped me through doing a layout for some Christmas cards where I put a picture and text on the front, some text on the inside, and a credit line on the back. I ran the card thru the printer for one side and then flipped it to do the other side. I used an Epson 2200. It took me some time to figure out, but with his patience all went well.
My problem this year is I have a new 24" printer and would like to take the same layouts and change the text (this should be no problem) and put multiple layouts on a page so I can print them on 24" wide paper. I would make the page size 24 wide x ?? long and would like to drop 10-12 layouts on the page and then drop pictures into each layout. Is this possible? I can't seem to figure out how to drop multiple layouts on one page size. Thanks for any info.
I just purchased Ultimate so I would be doing it in that environment.

Hi Mike,
Are you using roll paper? If you are you could define a page size that matched the old layout paper size and then have a different set of images, text etc. on each page in the normal way.
If you are using sheet, it may be possible to do the same thing by setting the driver as roll and fooling it. Just make sure the number of pages added does fit on the sheet in the roll setting. You'll need to know how the driver spaces pages on the roll and which is the best roll paper option to use, banner, cut sheet etc. I can't help there.

When I define a size in the driver (24x36) I can only place one layout per page size. If I make the page size 8x10 (the card) in the driver there is only room for one card on the page layout. What I was looking for was to place duplicate layouts on the 24x36. I guess I'll have to place something like 9 cards on a sheet in a template and put the text on each one and then save the whole thing as a layout. If that makes sense. Unless there is someway to duplicate the layouts on a larger sheet.

Unless there is some way to duplicate the layouts on a larger sheet. That is why I suggested using the roll paper mode if you have that. The page size can then be anything you like that fits on the roll width so you can get multiple pages on the roll. By using your 24x36 sheet and telling the driver it's a roll, in theory, it's should(?) be possible to get multiple 8x10's on the sheet. Say, 2 across the width (10") and 4 within the length (36") The trouble is I'm not familiar with how, when in roll mode, smaller pages are nested within the roll width & along the length by the driver. Help! someone else  What printer is it by the way. Terry |

The size of the card is 8-1/2 x 5-1/4. The picture size on the right is 4x5. The text is on the left. When I fold the card the picture is on the front and the text on the bottom of the back. I have a Canon 6300 printer. In the drive I select roll print, 24" wide, and the custom size is 24 x any length I want. I chose 36" so it would be easy to cut and handle after the print. I've attached my Qimage screen with the one layout on the 24x36 page. I know I'm missing something simple. I'd like to drop 6 or 9 more on the page (whatever fits). Thanks,

Hi Mike, Fred & I have been trying to sort this out off line  the custom size is 24 x any length I want. I chose 36" Surely you can set the page size to that of the original layout (8x10 I think you said) so you then get multiple small PAGES on the roll. Your screen shot shows an IMAGE template on the large page. What Im not sure about is how the driver then nests the small pages across the width & along the length of the roll. Maybe it can't do that Terry |

Terry and I have different approaches to completing the task you outlined.
Rather than confuse the issue, stick with one and follow it through from Terry.

What I was looking for was to place duplicate layouts on the 24x36. When you change the placement mode to Freehand, you can click the next page arrow and get a new blank page (8x10). Load that with your layout and add the images, keep going until you have enough. Again, I don't know how the driver arranges small pages on a wide roll (I don't have any roll paper here to check it) but presumably it know how. Terry |

The layout on the att. picture is close to what I want but I can't seem to get the layout in each 8x10 on the page. The layout will look like the layout on the prev. picture I attached. The layout is in #2, the rest are the pages in the driver. Main, page setup, and layout. Under the 2x2 in layout there are a bunch of selections like 4x4, etc. I tried that but it didn't work too good. Any more ideas? Thanks for your patience. It just seems you should be able to place multiple layouts on a large page size. I just can't seem to get my head around it.

I would be interested in knowing what your method might be. The only solution I have come up with is to make my paper size 24x36 and put multiple new layouts in it with text for each template. It might be difficult to line everything up precisely. I can't seem to place the multiple 8x10's that Terry suggested onto to a roll paper. I might be missing something but just can't seem to get it. Anyway, you said you might have a different approach. Thanks,

Hi Mike, Sorry to have ignored you yesterday, a busy one taking photographs  Just so we are all clear on what you are wanting to do, see my attachment below - ignore the actual page size. Is this something like your final requirement after cutting up from the large sheet, a page with the image on the right side and text on the left hand side so you get, as you said in reply #5 "the size of the card is 8-1/2 x 5-1/4. Am I correct in thinking it's not double-sided printing (like we sorted out a few months ago), just a simple folded card? You previous mentioned 8x10, this is bigger than necessary for 8.5x5.25, why 8x10, was that the original paper size for the original template layout? If we can clarify and then go forward from there. Roll paper or sheet paper; no difference except for the fact that you can make larger page sizes.
I don't know where you stand on making your completed card. Did you make a template for the job?
I am attaching a quickie I started to make. I can get about 16 cards on the page.
I only made 4 because I am short of time, but another 10 minutes would put 16 on the page.
Then I save the JOB.
I can recall the job at any time which will give me another full page to print.

Also you could save the template and recall that at will. Then add the 4 x 5 prints to the top of the 8,5 x 5.25 templates.
All I really have to do is complete construction of your full page of 16 cards, and save the JOB.

Mike & Fred,
I think Fred's method is by far the easiest, rather than trying to use your old template. You could also include a place holder template for the image.
You can use the alignment features in the Full Page Editor.
